Susan McDougal did 18 months for not answering questions. Rudy isn’t some lofty, above-our-woes being. Don’t co-operate? Sit in a cell.
And as for being able to direct his testimony, he knows that’s not how it works. He was a prosecutor. The witness answers the questions.

If he does have “tapes” - which, who knows, because he lies like a rug - given his and his boss’s recent statements and actions, the chances are good they’d be anything but exculpatory.

The thing that’s even more bonkers to me than that is the fact that his comments indicate he doesn’t even grasp what appearing before Congress entails. It’s not like they’re asking him to come in and give a dog-and-pony show. You show up and answer the questions that are asked (or not). It’s not like you have command over the A/V equipment and haul out a bunch of charts and dictate the agenda. Talk about senility.
