Potential primary challenger Rep. Ruben Gallego (D-AZ) is going hard after Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) for what he says was her absence on the campaign trail, saying she could have helped Arizona’s Democratic candidates who were on the ticket last week but didn’t.
"especially on her centrist stance on a handful of issues Democrats "
Voting against the minimum wage and standing against tax policies for the 1% is not centrist. She is a Republican and the media needs to start calling her out for it.
“This is not the first (and likely not the last) time Gallego has publicly criticized Sinema — especially on her centrist stance on a handful of issues Democrats have been pushing for.”
Centrist? Really? I’d say right wing given how she’s blocked arguably “centrist” policies.
“Senator Sinema was nowhere to be found. At all. You did not see her at one public event for anybody. … She did nothing, because she only cares about herself.”
On the other hand, has anyone considered that Sinema would have been a boat anchor around the neck of anyone she publicly supported? Because she really is awful. Who wants to be associated with such a horrible person?
What a horrible person she is. Whatever her reason(s) for acting this way, it doesn’t justify it, even if she and her entire family were threatened, which I seriously doubt. Either she’s on the take, they have kompromat on her, or she’s just a horrible person who loves to stick it to people. These are not mutually exclusive btw.
Exactly. She fundraises from Republican fat cats. Vote her out, Arizona. She can get some window-dressing job with a huge salary from one of her Republican donors.
She doesn’t appear to be ideological. What she does appear to be is self-interested, which is on a whole other plane from ideology. Condemn anti-abortion zealots all you want, at least they believe in their twisted views. She believes in nothing, but herself and her own interests. If there’s credible evidence to the contrary, I’ve yet to see it. She’s no different from a lot of Repubs this way, but not for ideological reasons. Like them she’s just another corrupt hack for hire.
I love Gallego doing this. At a minimum, Sinema feels the need to tack left to fend off his run and the country benefits. If not, she’s laying the foundation for her own exit from office. Possible land mines if Gallego beats Sinema and she runs as an I (although that’s probably only a spit run by Sinema), but Gallego seems smart enough to know how to run and win statewide in AZ.
Time for the Democrats to select a primary candidate to oppose her. She’s done. No way she’s reelected. So either the Democrats pick a parson that can win or the GOP does. I’d bet as soon as the reality sinks in…that her act is not a plus…she’ll make a self serving last ditch attempt at being a nice guy. Oust her.
If Sinema (and for that matter Manchin, but to a lesser degree because WV is a solidly red state, unlike AZ) wants to be reelected then she’s going to have to play nice with Dems. Of course if Repubs take the house then this will mostly apply to confirmations and treaties, and she’s been a team player on those. Which helps her politically, unfortunately. A GOP-led house won’t create many opportunities for her to vote against Dem bills. But she’s already got a long record of doing that.
