Captain Jay Baker of the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office in Georgia will no longer be involved in the county’s investigation into the deadly spa shootings following several controversies over his conduct.
In my profession, this Sheriff’s Department Captain would be forced to “retire” or just plain old fired for disciplinary reasons due to his social media posts, alone, forget the ridiculous press conference saying the killer “had a bad day.”
He obviously can’t fulfill his obligations under the oath he took to protect the US and GA Constitutions, so get rid of him. Now.
WaPo Atlanta spa killings lead to questions about sex work and exploitation
One of the businesses attacked by the shooter, Gold Spa, has previously been the subject of prostitution stings by the Atlanta Police Department that led to the arrests of employees, according to police reports The Washington Post obtained through a public records request.
During a two-year period from 2011 though 2013, police conducted seven undercover stings at Gold Spa, making a total of 10 arrests, according to the reports. The arrests were all of women. The reports often listed their home addresses as the address of Gold Spa.
There were also reports that women that worked inside were rarely seen, and if they left it was together being driven by a white man. Sounds like some were living in these spas.
Isn’t that what happens when women are essentially being held hostage and doing the bidding of their master?
Ms. Neldner seems young for the job and may be somewhat lacking in police experience – but it’s difficult to imagine how she could be worse than Baker.
Then again, my imagination isn’t great.
The statement did not address Baker’s Facebook posts.
Apparently the investigators are having difficulties tracking down relatives to confirm identities of 4 of the victims. If some of these women were brought to this country as sex slaves, their relatives might not have a clue as to where they are.
Maybe some of these spas are on the up and up, but this really needs to be investigated and these places shut down. It is so difficult to imagine that this occurs in the US.
I know, call me Pollyanna.
Cherokee Co. has a reputation of being a nest of gun-crazed, racist, Christian Talibans (There was a high profile case with some anti-immigrant ordinances a few years back).
So they used the sex and temptation angle, not only hinting that the hos had it coming, they are trying to hide racism and gun-nuttery… BS argument that fails quickly
a) The guy was a gun nut that loved “pizza, guns, god and family”, and was able to buy a gun that same day
b) There is no sex to be had at Young’s (There are sites that keep track of what is offered where )
c) The Mexican guy that just happened to be walking to the money order business next door, did he find that guy tempting as well?
