Fox News Business host Melissa Francis on Monday slammed President Donald Trump’s “outrageous” demand to find out identity of the whistleblower behind last week’s blockbuster complaint about his call with the Ukrainian president.

The right to “to be confronted by the witnesses” comes from the 6th amendment and takes place in the course of a trial. There is no right to for someone accused of a crime to haul an accuser into his office or any other place and for any reason. This President has clearly lost a few of the remaining marbles that are now pinging around inside that rotten melon of his.
tRump continues to behave like an innocent person- covering up evidence, obstructing the law, threatening witnesses. That’s what all innocent people do.
Not to mention that the police allow for anonymous tips to be made to them in the course of their investigation of a crime. Now, if the tipster turns out to be a critical witness to the crime, then yeah, ultimately they’d likely have to testify, but if you just have some hearsay to pass on, there’s nothing that says that you would have to testify about things you aren’t an actual witness to.
And that’s the case with this whistleblower; he’s only passing on information that he has gathered from other parties. If this were a criminal proceeding, there’s no reason he himself would have to testify or reveal his identification to the perpetrator. There would be actual witnesses to the events that would testify, and the circumstantial evidence only needs witnesses to authenticate it.

Can you imagine how many more witnesses would have “disappeared” when mob bosses were charged with crimes if there was such a right? The fact that Trump even thinks there’s such thing testifies to his fathomless ignorance and stupidity.

It looks as if Fox is laying the groundwork for network survival post-Trump, rather than planning on 4 more years of his B.S.
Of course, that’s not to suggest they won’t become any less irresponsible or any more honest. Just looking for a change in RW meal tickets.

Trying out how more straight news will play… More and more people are starting to rumble, not just Shep Smith, who has always been the one voice for actual news on the entire network + Fox Biz.
“Both sides” are not suggesting executing a whistleblower as a spy…while there is a small, angry contingent of liberal assholes that say stupid stuff like that, it’s a far smaller number than on the right at this time. And that number apparently includes the president, who appears to be trying to get his supporters to go out and find “traitors” (to Trump, not the nation) to take out. And, Trump knows members of his base are crazy enough to do it, we’ve already seen mass shootings from some of them.
On a side note…the whistleblower stated that they were reporting mostly things that others told them, they apparently witnessed something in their complaint directly. They didn’t state what obviously, that could have outed them, but they actually saw something happen. So, not only is the “hearsay isn’t real evidence” line BS, it’s also not true as the whistleblower actually saw something.

That, and the whistleblower’s subsequent ‘disappearance.’
We really don’t know what the whistle blower was directly privy to and likely won’t until he choses to out himself. As you point out, in the interests of preserving his anonymity, it is in his/her interest to obfuscate as many identifying details as possible.
He previously looked like he overdosed on beta carotene. Now it looks like he did a careless job smearing shoe polish on his face.
