Fourth Dem Rep. Tests Positive For COVID-19 After Sheltering During Capitol Riots | Talking Points Memo

Rep. Adriano Espaillat (D-NY) announced on Thursday that he tested positive for COVID-19, following the deadly insurrection at the Capitol last week that forced lawmakers to take shelter with several mask-less Republicans.

The unmasked GOP anti-science fools should be tested, and if found positive, should be publicly shamed and, hopefully, prosecuted.

It’s good they all were vaccinated before this, that will help them to have milder cases. The Republicans who refused to wear masks are just assholes, uninterested in helping their fellow Americans…they really need to be sanctioned for their behavior in some way.

That’s my representative.
Also the area he represents (Rangel’s old district) is one of the harder hit areas in NYC, especially the Washington Heights portion of it.

Why is it only Ds testing positive? If this goes another few days with no Rs from that room testing positive, then it’s going to reinforce their stupid idea, “See? We didn’t need masks because we’re all perfectly healthy!”

They never learn unless it affects them directly.

Either they aren’t getting tested, or they aren’t sharing the results. Denial ain’t just a river in Egypt.

On Tuesday, acting Sergeant at Arms Timothy P. Blodgett announced that House members would have to walk through metal detectors and wear masks before they enter the House chamber for the vote to impeach President Trump for “incitement of insurrection.”

I trust that the acting Sergeant at Arms understands that it is physically possible to walk through a metal detector even while possessing a metal weapon. Did he mention what would happen to a House member who was found to be in possession of a weapon after walking through the metal detector?

Failure to wear a mask when conditions require it is assault. We don’t have the laws to enforce this, but that doesn’t change the moral calculation.

The Republicans who assaulted their fellow members of congress should be censored, and barred from committee membership by leadership, at the very least.
