Founder of Voter Roll Maintenance Program Leaves Board After Onslaught of Far-Right Conspiracy Theories

And how many ranchers and farmers and factory/corporate farmers hiring “illegal-alien” labor identify politically as anything other than Republican or Libertarian???

No, it was not meant to be humorous, nor trolling. I was in grad school in 1977 when there was no WWW (not until 1989), no Internet (in 1974 there was the hint of it that evolved into the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) and Internet Protocol (IP). The closest thing in my world was ARPA and DARPANET. I was specializing in the new(ish) field of Information Science and working on my MLS (Library Science). My passion was classification, research, and biological and medical taxonomies.

ERIC was a very concerted attempt to gather, and make available to the PUBLIC, as much educational research and literature in a readily easy accesible scheme of search terms. For teachers, educators, and the public I am glad it is still active.

BTW – 1980, in my opinion, was the crushing end to the Federal interest in the U.S. to be responsive to the public desire for open information. Guess who was elected Pres that year? Ronnie Reagan.
This is not a joke. To those of us working to turn the lights up bright in this great new world of computers and information access possibilities, the new Republican Administration made it clear that they intended to turn the lights off, and keep the public in the dark. IMO, he was the real start of the total ruin of what was once a somewhat reasonable Republican Party, even worse that what Nixon represented.

I was not aware that there was any other organization named ERIC involved in voter rights and issues. And I worked very hard in voter rights, League of Women Voters, Literacy and voter registration organizations, and more than 10 years as an Election Official, running 4 wards in my city, doing everything I could to make voting the best and easiest thing to do for citizens. My wards had a 95% average turnout across all election cycles. And it was mixed Dem and Rep. So, no disrespect to those who work hard for voter rights…

I use that ERIC on a semi regular basis in my work life.

They get it from religion, brainwashing people into believing things that cannot be proven but must just be believed. It’s a toxic stew that religion bullshit is and will bring down civilization.
