Yeah Zelensky was a comedian who played a comedic version of being who he is right now.
The world has gone fucking nuts.

Or it’s learning the same lesson, over and over, that TV celebrities with no government experience make shitty leaders.
Show biz is the new breeding ground and it’ll never spawn statesmen, just lightweights who know what to do when they see the red light.
Never in human history has one man received as much undeserved admiration from so many people as Trump.
Yeah…I know…the word-smithers here can say the opposite…so I will say this:
Trump is the greatest and most effective demagogue in the history of the United States of America.
Good News:
That’s why Trumpism does not outlast Trump. No one will ever do what he has done to the United States, starting in 2015.
After he is removed from office, he will never be replaced. In a sense, his greatness as a demagogue assures, even more, that he will never be replaced.
Like everything else in Ukraine, Zelensky is just a puppet for the Oligarchs that set him in office. He doesn’t need to know anything just follow the instructions.
American Oligarchs also managed to get an ignoramus from show business into office, but they are having a much harder time controlling him. To be fair he has mostly delivered in what they wanted most, a tax cut, the disabling of the regulatory agencies, and fill the courts with buyable wingnuts hacks.
Andriy Yermak, his assistant, could have helped him navigate this. I’m reasonably certain, on the other hand, that they never contemplated facing the evil of Trump.
I hope that is not wishful thinking.

It’s not. I could go through a number of Trump’s characteristics (including his peculiar mental illness), but I am fairly confident on that.
Of course, that particular outcome (Trumpism not outlasting Trump) would be better, in my opinion…
He may escape removal, but he won’t be “vindicated.” A show trial cannot produce a real acquittal. And, as I keep reminding people, Nixon was reelected before he was forced to resign.
We’ll be saying this when Ivanka or Kim K. runs and wins public office.
and he carried 49 states. djt will never be vindicated and he knows it. It spoils his vision of his legacy which will include some form of “third president to be impeached.” That’s not the company he imagined he’d be in as he presides over Sea by the Lake’s golf course.
trumpism will last longer than the man himself unfortunately. Not just in social policies and mistrust of fellow Americans but in his policies to dismantle science, education, healthcare, you name it, all to show he’s not Barack Obama.
The man who coined ETTD along with George Conway and a couple of others signed on to an effort to raise money and awareness and get djt removed from office.

Patriotism and the survival of our nation in the face of the crimes, corruption and corrosive nature of Donald Trump are a higher calling than mere politics. As Americans, we must stem the damage he and his followers are doing to the rule of law, the Constitution and the American character.
That’s why we are announcing the Lincoln Project, an effort to highlight our country’s story and values, and its people’s sacrifices and obligations. This effort transcends partisanship and is dedicated to nothing less than preservation of the principles that so many have fought for, on battlefields far from home and within their own communities.
The U.S. secretary of state doesn’t want to be photographed with a colleague who testified truthfully under oath. That would be just too embarrassing.
But Rex Tillerson must be pretty pleased that he held the Most Disgraceful SoS in History title for such a very short time, and likely nobody will even remember his sorry tenure once Pompeo is finished besmirching the office.
Thankfully, I’ll be dead by then.
Or else presidential politics will kill me.
Welp, I wish Nancy would hurry up with that mallet already.
Sign me up!!
America elected a movie actor. To two terms. But then he’d paid his political dues for a decade and a half before gaining the White House. This current weasel has zero government experience and even 3 years in has really learned very little from what I see. We damn well had better not make this mistake again in 2020
Edit
I’ve said it before. I think Putin has something truly monsterously bad on trump to make donnie kowtow like he does every chance he gets. I wonder what that kompromat is.
I think Zelensky behaved as well as he could: HE HELD OUT. I know I know he was going on Fareed Zakaria’s show within a few days. BUT most would’ve folded immediately.
Because his country has been invaded and HE IS AT WAR. Sometimes I think people (our people) don’t appreciate his situation.
