Reminds me of Sarah Palin’s “goodbye Alaska” speech. Where she pointed out it was all the media’s fault that she “could not continue as governor”.
I am not yet convinced that the explanation you offer is accurate.
And, strictly hypothetically, there’s no reason both explanations can’t be true.
you do realize that he can be both corrupt AND correct about how politics works in Missouri, don’t you?
Holy Lord — are you actually going to claim “fake news” to defend this despicable deadbeat??? Seriously???
It’s a matter of public record.
Speaking of which, guess what Missouri HB 1581, sponsored by Franks, would do? No joke — HB 1581 “prohibits incarceration of individuals who fail to pay child support.”
HAHAHAHAHAHA!
If this were a Republican, you’d rightfully want him tarred and feathered. So why are you defending this guy? Oh, right, because he’s just a helpless victim of the “Dem establishment.” LOL. Good grief.
Except the latter would not be an excuse for the former, would it? And it wouldn’t be caused by the “Dem establishment” as your word salad claims.
Yeah, but they’d better be careful. You know, those cellphones can easily be mistaken for weapons by officers of the law.
Seems like ST Louis isn’t going to kill my brother, just make him pay child support… That’s not the same thing.
Sounds a lot like our local Berniebro candidate for Congress last year, a state legislator who turned out to have falsified literally every campaign disclosure form since he was elected six years before. In part to conceal having paid his rent and attorney for disputing a speeding ticket with campaign funds. But of course that was all smears and persecution from the Democratic establishment who are afraid of the revolution.
Just another example of the ends of the horseshoe moving ever closer together. Democrats don’t need to purge “centrists” or “the establishment” — they need to purge these lying, cheating frauds exploiting real economic disparities and real racism to try to excuse their own despicable behavior.
BTW, apparently Franks likes to repeatedly boast about his 33 tattoos as a badge of honor. Anyone know the going rate for 33 tattoos? I’m guessing it’s just high enough to cut into the rate of child support.
I blocked him and my blood pressure is better, now.
What is a Please don’t tell me you hate her, too?
Several years Steve Israel D-NY decided to retire after 16 years of begging for dough in each election cycle. Six months of governing before dialing for dollars became of way of life. He thought he’d follow in the foot steps of Adams, Webster, Cannon, but instead he was told
No. 1: Get re-elected. A fundraising consultant advised that if I didn’t raise at least $10,000 a week (in pre-Citizens United dollars), I wouldn’t be back.
This, I suspect, is why we see so much craven behavior from people we thought we could trust to do the right thing on our behalf.
I know what futility feels like so me too.
I’m having a hard time finding any news organizations reporting this. Appreciate some help.
You seem to be the only one posting about Franks who’s found evidence of an investigation by the local media into allegations of improprieties by Franks in connection with a jobs program and time records ”.
I’ve been googling everywhere and I get nada, just talk of prioritizing his health concerns over being in the House.
Here is a video about the investigation. It seems pretty damning. Couldn’t find anything on the child support other than he sponsored a bill making it unlawful to jail someone for not paying child support.
I remember exactly where I was watching this.
I was in the backseat of my dad’s 65 Ford fairlane sick from eating waaaay too many plums when the module landed, and later that night I fell asleep waiting for the astronauts to emerge and take their walk.
So, I missed out.
There is terrific coverage at NYT today, including a replica of its July 21, 1969 front page announcing Men Walk on Moon as well as the reporting from that day including a poem by Archibald Macleish and reporting by one John Noble Wilford. It’s been a good morning here to be able to relive that day.
