(AP) — The Trump administration and Oregon leaders declared victory after it was announced that U.S. agents guarding a federal courthouse during violent demonstrations in Portland will pull back, but it wasn’t clear the agreement will reduce tensions that have led to more than two months of protests.

That “victory” declaration from Trump on Portland is the same mental mechanism he would use to resign from Office.

So, CPB and ICE are leaving. But the Erik Prince mercenaries are not. And they don’t have allegiance at all to the government or the American people. They are there for the likes of Trump and the De Vos, et alia, family fortunes.

Unfortunately, they considered it more important to discuss how the feds were feeling than picayune details, like exactly which units were there, what their orders were, what their rules of engagement are and how they assess probable cause. It’s great the feds will be leaving, they were the instigators and perpetuators of most of the violence in portland and hopefully we can return to the relatively peaceful protests we had for 2 months prior. But it’s worth noting there exists a sizable contingent of “black bloc” style anarchist types in the NW and outside agitators (likely right-wing military types from the portland suburbs) that are responsible for violence as well. They are still going to be a thorn in the side of serious protestors, BLM movement and people who are actually anti-fascists rather than cosplayers who just want to fuck shit up. Hopefully they will find better things to do so the rest of us can protest in peace and get our message back on track.
