Oh, God, this will make Ted Cruz an even bolder and bigger asshole! Is that possible??

“Great to know buying off a politician is now a constitutional right.”

As it should be. Why should politicians have fewer opportunities to enrich themselves corruptly than scotus justices do?

Unless this court mandates that all of us cannot vote without its approval, this is a One Shot Deal for us.

We expand our hold on Congress

It’s beyond doable. Only laziness and apathy can stop us.

Just wait till the six assholes on the totally corrupted court throw out New York’s gun laws and declare that anyone can buy any kind of gun with no restrictions…

His subtle declaration to Congress. Don’t even think about trying to legislate around our support of unlimited political corruption.

That impenetrable wall went up with Citizens United when CJ Roberts created the 1st Amendment charade out of whole cloth. Had a brief discussion about it with our state AG, who thinks CU is among the worst decisions ever handed down by the Supreme Court. He acknowledged that the only practical short term approach is to nibble around the edges the same way forced birth forces attacked Roe v Wade. Roberts just said he won’t let that happen.

Funny, after the McDonnell case where it was deemed ok to get gifts and cars and trips from your donor in exchange for pushing his products by using the power of government, I said I guess the only way to get busted for corruption now would be a photograph of someone accepting a bagful of money with a dollar sign $ on the side.

Looks like that no longer qualifies as corruption either. There are so many ways to get around campaign financing now that all regulation has become essentially meaningless.

This. The only plausible “fix” I can see is to get enough of a stronger congressional majority in both houses in November and expand the bench to 13 members. As unrealistic as that sounds, if someone can think of anything more realistic, please enlighten us here.

Solomonic John Roger B Taney Roberts is trying to outdo himself in the service of the Party. Now is the time to relitigate another monkey trial in His Kangaroo court.

Politicians should be allowed to spend their campaign funds in anyway they please. The money is a gift to them from the donors. Campaign donations are not a loan and not a bribe as there is not quid pro quo. It is well known that politicians especially conservative ones don’t generally engage in that sort of thing.

The Supreme Court is a supreme joke.

70% disapproval of SCOTUS is inevitable…and it will not go as well as they think. We are Americans, unaccustomed to fascism…even this type

Arguably, corporations are indeed people, but this court has gone too far in bestowing that status to Ted Cruz.

…to level electoral opportunities by equalizing candidate resources, and [by limiting] the general influence a contributor may have over an elected official.

Isn’t the Supreme Court advancing a prosperity gospel? Wealth accrues to superior people, so why limit them?

That was always a ruse for Republicans to appoint their activist judges. Karl Rove et al put those lines in GWBs speeches as a cheap diversion. I didn’t buy it then either. I always knew what they were doing, I just didn’t think they would be this successful.

Really failing to see the harm here. First, he got re-elected. Second, whether you agree with the law or not, it was clear and Cruz made his own choice to spend money that he might not be able to recoup (officially).
