FBI To Probe Death Of Black Man After Video Shows Cop Digging Knee Into The Man’s Neck

The FBI will investigate the death of a black man in Minnesota after a video surfaced showing a white police officer kneeling on the man’s neck for several minutes during an arrest on Monday, the Minneapolis Police Department (MPD) announced on Tuesday.

Cop needs to be tried for murder. The guy goes completely unresponsive and he continues to lean on him as the crowd tells him hes unresponsive. Depraved indifference at the very VERY least.

Wonder how many of these stories aren’t coming out of the blood red states. Like since Trump was elected we’ve seen a lot less of this, and there’s no way there isn’t more of it going on.

Exactly. Murder, nothing less.

@sniffit This seems to be a pretty standard restraint technique, and is used (from copious video evidence) disproportionately on POC. That said, it was likely not what was causing breathing difficulty.

It is far more likely that the victim suffered a police-interaction-induced heart attack. It is completely indefensible that he was not rolled over and checked after he lost consciousness – he would have been completely limp, and obviously was as they tried to load him on the gurney.

It seems also to be standard practice not to render any type of aid to someone being arrested, be it needed due to a laceration, gunshot wound, or unconsciousness. No attempt is even made to assess him. This is negligent homicide at best (“WE didn’t cause his heart attack!”)

Edited for clarity.

Dude was handcuffed and on the ground. What on earth would be the point of a knee on the neck in this situation? Just keeps on happening to black people.

The cops were clearly in fear of their life

You misunderstand. The continued knee on the neck during his pleas that he could not breathe and then even after he went unresponsive is the evidence of depraved indifference REGARDLESS of whether it is the immediate cause of death.

I suspect he will face first degree manslaughter if the prosecutors are anywhere close to honest.

There are way too many f*cking incidents of LE racsim in Minnesota. In the past five years they have killed a handful of blacks that were unarmed.
When they murdered Justine Damond, some angry white yuppies were motivated to make these signs and post them over the city.

A shame they didn’t feel the same outrage when multiple blacks were murdered by the police also.
The city settled for 20 million with Justine’s family. That’s more than double the last five settlements put together that were awarded to the families of black victims. Let’s see some equal settlements. If it costs them 20 million a pop, maybe they might receive better training.

Not able to tell for sure but it does look like the kneeling Cop has an erection. It must have been so exciting.

This like all stories that involving dead handcuffed Black men is “evolving” details. They say he was “resisting their efforts” but they were able to cuff him. I guess he didn’t “reach for his waistband” or carry a Glock cell phone so he survived the initial confrontation. And then a real good detail came out. He died in a hospital later. So who was the dead guy in the video?

I’m not sure Cop’s can pull this crap off as easily. The guy was unresponsive for several minutes, handcuffed and had complained of not being able to breath ( shades of Garner ) but Officer Hard On kept his knee on the man’s neck. Never did he tend to the man who he is legally obligated to care for once he takes him into custody. Never took the mans pulse but when the State Cop showed up that was the first thing he did. Indicating the need for it. Body cams were on but no “resisting” footage has been released.

A guy is dead for the misdemeanor offense of public drunk.

That is literally a photo of a murder in progress.

“Officers were able to get the suspect into handcuffs and noted he appeared to be suffering medical distress,” the department said. “Officers called for an ambulance. He was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center by ambulance where he died a short time later.”

That sanitized report doesn’t seem to have anything to do with this picture:

It makes me wonder how Christian Cooper would have fared in the hands of the NYPD in the seclusion of the Ramble in Central Park.

Picture??? There is a 7 min. video that literally shows him die!!!

Yeah, the hand in the pocket tells the story of great fear on the part of the cop.

I hope you are correct. History indicates that because the cop is white, probably not. I wish this was snark, but given Minnesota and the rest of the country’s recent history with prosecutors, GJ and even juries, concerning deaths from police officers it probably isn’t.

That’s straight-up second degree murder, all day and every day. It would be hard to show the premeditation necessary for first degree/capital murder, but intent to cause bodily harm and extreme indifference to human life both easily appear to be present here. Throw voluntary manslaughter in as a lesser included charge.

If you masked off everything in that still image but the cop’s face, the depraved indifference is still there to see. I’d call it sadism, actually. This person enjoys inflicting pain. Not a good quality in those legally empowered to use force on others.

It’s Karen!

Only with a badge.

And a license to kill.

It might be but you’ll never take the Cop down for that. Second Degree murder requires you prove an intent to kill. I’m not sure that’s there at all. Manslaughter hell yes. Abuse of official authority and reckless endangerment. Yes and those can stick. If you’re going after a Cop you best have your ducks in order and your shit together. Don’t over charge or he’s going to walk. Manslaughter or negligent homicide. That can be done.

I would convict the cop on murder charges.
Beyond fucking outrageous.
Fucking murder.
