He did basically the same thing before the crap hit the fan in the financial meltdown that GWB/Cheney brought us by getting his wife alerted to get cash out of the bank before the crash hit.

I’m not saying he’s not a complete scumbag for trading based on insider info. I’m saying that he probably hasn’t violated any criminal laws by doing so. It should be illegal. It probably isn’t, at least based on what has been reported so far. Obviously, of course, a federal magistrate or judge has decided it is more likely than not that the senator’s phone contains evidence of a crime, but that’s far from the final word on this.

Burr isn’t retiring until 2022.

I would not bet on Burr making it to 2022. It is an interesting question for republicans. With Tillis on the ballot in 2020 - and running behind Cunningham in both the polls and $$$$s raised

(Note that Civitas is a republican push pollster) Are Republicans best to Push out Burr now, or to let him sit there in the senate.

True! Given that the trial judge dismissed the securities fraud/insider trading charge. Albeit that the basis of the charge was that her brother leaked to her that ImClone’s big drug was failing FDA approval.

But she still went to prison for lying about it to government investigators and obstruction of justice. Lesson: Engage a knowledgeable attorney before deciding to talk to the feds. Better still, don’t talk to the feds except through counsel.
