Well I might not do that. I’m nearing the point that getting out of here and going home ( Holland ) or to my wife’s home ( Peru ) is looking better and better every day. If Trump gets reelected it’s going to look damn sweet.
If that doesn’t cause nausea, what will?
My mother was a linguist. Her position on profanity was that it was a set of words with meaning that could not achieved by other words. That it was valid and useful.
Alarming to say the least, and now all these storms lately moving all this stuff around.
"The chemicals, resistant to breaking down in the environment, "
Especially in Russian. Finnish swearing is so good that the native Swedish speakers in Finland prefer to swear in Finnish.
I understand. Thankfully the darr household is a mere 50 miles north of the Mexican border. We can bug out if needed. I’ve been to Europe many times and have immensely enjoyed poking in to my genetic roots country… (NW France and Ireland… my genes are Celtic). We’ve done bike tours in Belgium and Holland and have fond memories of those trips.
Its called the Trump Effect
“Last week, the FBI did not comply with U.S. District Judge Reggie Walton’s order”
I didn’t know that and I grew up right in their back yard. I use English when in Scandinavia as everyone speaks it. Have to or they’d be relegated to languages spoken by only 1% of the world. They seem competent with English profanity as well but the British variant. Hungry for the American stuff though and a short class in it will get you a “take away beer” in Copenhagen or a great cup of coffee in Oslo.
For what it’s worth, I read on WaPo that the maniac in chief sent out 144 tweets yesterday. And, the Senate Rethugs think that the House is repeating itself in the hearings.
I can imagine no one is surprised by this. I know I’m not.
There’s no penalty for missing deadlines and ignoring subpoenas. So why would anyone spend any time on related information? They’ll get to it when they feel like it.
I wonder. When they find Javanka’s bodies in the bombed out interior of Cheney’s bunker, will there be self-inflicted bullet holes in the head or will they have requested that their corpses be set on fire like Hitler did? Nobody voted for either of them, yet they are running the government and Barr is invoking their executive privilege?
It’s time to set the 25th Amendment into motion. Trump never wanted to actually be president, but because he got enough help from Putin to be installed in the Oval Office, Jared has taken every advantage of the Old Man and the American people.
(reaches for eye bleach)
Uh Oh eye bleach is awfully low…
True this.
Interesting factoid: in general, people who speak multiple languages tend to count (especially big numbers) and swear in their mother tongue (or whichever of their multiple languages they consider their “main” language). In the case of swear words, it’s (probably) because that’s the one where you get the most visceral satisfaction and release…
Not sure it ever will, quite frankly.
For all the attention Flint, Michigan, has gotten, what’s the status of their drinking water x number of YEARS later?
A face made for a creme pie.
If they can’t show a reason for the delay, they should be held in contempt.
The judge ordered them to release the docs, and gave them a deadline. Any review or redaction must be performed within that window. Instead, they did nothing until after the window closed.
That’s not good faith. That’s running out the clock, bordering on outright defiance. It still could be defiance.
Some Finnish migrant groups in the US and Canada have retained antiquated curses. One genre of swearing involves requesting the object of the swear to perform some olfactory act, e.g. “smell my belly button” or “smell mold” (which is still in contemporary use). Much more fun than the Swedish soft swears, like “Seventeen!” (Sjutton!)
I agree. I grew up speaking Dutch outside the front door and English inside. My mouth formed around both tongues. I swear in English now and sometimes in Spanish so my wife can get my full meaning. Dutch has a shitty set of profane words and is essentially useless if you have a libertine way of expressing yourself as I do.
Repeating the facts must be torture to those hypocritical old conservatives, but that’s the way a good prosecutor builds a case. It insures a conviction in the follow up appeals process in case the jury is corrupted.
Schiff is presenting his case to the American voter and the upcoming grand juries. Nobody would waste their time trying to convince a corrupt GOP Senate to do the right thing.
