Top infectious diseases expert Dr. Anthony Fauci on Monday warned against distributing a COVID-19 vaccine under special emergency use guidelines before it has been proved safe and effective in clinical trials, saying that it could jeopardize the testing of alternatives.
The fact that he is warning us is scary in itself.
Well, Trumpâs successfully ensured that nobody will take his vaccine.
His followers think itâs all a hoax, and everyone else knows Trump has literally proposed household cleaners, so canât possibly trust any vaccine he rushes through.

And the only efficacy Trump is concerned of is how to own the Libs, how to be more cruel to immigrants, POC, people who did not vote for him!

If thereâs anyway a vaccine can be hustled, danger be damned, before the election it will happen. Itâs faults and lack of efficacy will be painted over and itâs successes. if any, will be amplified a 100 fold and blasted all over America. That will happen.
The FDA has rolled over on plasma. It wonât stand up to POTUS on anything. Fauci is absolutely right, and for a global pandemic there is a profound need for multiple vaccines to provide sufficient access. Weâre finally on our own, in the words of Neil Young.
The attack on science and medicine continues for political purposes. The administration is already estimated to be responsible for over 105,000 US covid-19 deaths owing to their slow response and active policies that were/are against best practice. And too many people donât seem to care, as it hasnât affected them.
And as expected, his administration has apparently completely misrepresented the study that came out of the Mayo clinic, having made up numbers to lie to the US citizens.

Gotta admire his sticking to his guns - and doing it professionally so that when the Trumpies go ballistic, they canât point to anything except his explanation because he carefully avoids over the top or accusatory rhetoric. Trump and his minions will claim that a majority of US citizens wonât take a rushed vaccine because of political reasons, but the truth is that will happen because of inadequate testing. If a vaccine is developed on Bidenâs watch, the MAGATâs wonât take it, however well it is tested, because of political reasons. That might be a piece of the solution of dealing with the 35% who support Trump no matter what.

All of the reasons not to rush a partially tested vaccine to market are relatively complex and therefore totally incomprehensible to Trump and most of the people who support him. Whenever someone like this hears an educated person explain the idea of efficacy and clinical trials, all they hear id blah blah blah bullshit.
I re-watched Idiocracy last night and I found it a perfect primer for both the Trump presidency and especially the Republican convention. When your base is this dumb and you want to stay in power, you have to out-dumb them. Itâs all red meat all of the time.
My heart goes out to all of the esteemed and serious scientists trying to save the world right now, because they are not only battling a devious virus, they have to stave off power hungry people who donât care if they screw up the science in their desire to force an artificial time line on the process.
