I adopted two rescued street cats. Every day I try, but fail, to divide the 5 oz can of wet food exactly equally between the two. Cat B, who is more partial to the wet food than the dry, has developed a whole variety of strategies to end up with the slightly larger portion. Some days he goes for the smaller portion and Cat A falls for the fake and insists on the smaller portion. Some days Cat B just is not in the mood to humor Cat A and goes hard for the larger portion. Some days Cat A gets the larger portion but then, since he is partial to dry food, leaves most of it to Cat B.

I think Fauci is Cat B. Every day he has to improvise some sort of head fake or pump fake of some sort to make Donald Trump feel his fragile ego is being stroked and he is being credited like the Ruler of the Peoples’ Democratic Republic of North Korea for the rising sun that day. Some days he has to let Trump win, but he knows that everybody else knows that Trump has no clue what he is doing, or what he is going to do next. And is only pretending to be in control.

Sad that he has become a careerist and enabler of garbage. Why does Fauci have to think about this job and not quit ? is it because he thinks he is the only person saving us, like all the other enablers in this administration, who are all out (Kerry, Mattis etc.) This is a peculiar combination of entitlement and self-regard, nothing will work without this talented individual being in office, much like the self-regard bloomberg had for himself and got himself a third term

I’ve struggled with this from the beginning. I think Mattis, and to a lesser extent,Tillerson, are fundamentally decent men who, in 20/20 hindsight, appear to have reigned in Trump’s worse impulses. Even Kelly, who is not-quite decent, appeared to have had some moderating effect on Trump. We will never know for sure, but I am willing to bet that Mattis and Kelly would have not allowed a carrier strike group to sail into an epidemic after clear warning from the Intelligence Community. Esper, Pompeo, and Mulvaney have secured their place in the second rung of the traitor Hall of Infamy behind Trump, Barr and McConnell, but ahead of Benedict Arnold.

Kelly, Mattis and Tillerson will have to live with their post-Trump silence and that is an awful legacy, but I think their time in office, like Fauci’s, will age a little better.

I think even that is calculated. They can see just as the rest of us that it doesn’t matter what is found out about Trump, MoscowMitch won’t lift a finger.

Thus, by speaking out, all that they could accomplish would be to split the country even further, and damage us even more on the world stage.
