Fauci Denigrates Trump Admin’s ‘Rather Vague’ Vaccine Rollout Plan | Talking Points Memo

Dr. Anthony Fauci, adviser to the president on COVID-19, said on Tuesday that the plan that Joe Biden’s predecessor left for vaccine rollout was “rather vague,” reinforcing reports that the Trump administration left little in place to carry out the distribution of vaccines before leaving office last month.

Fauci was just awarded the Israeli $1 million Dan David Prize for “defending science.”

While he’s very deserving, I find it sad that in this day and age science still needs to be “defended.”

yes … maybe there will come a time when it is not the case - but until then -
anytime science presents:

  • uncomfortable truths
  • requirements for additional effort
  • a shattering of treasured beliefs
  • a price to be paid

Science is going to be under attack -

If Merrick Garland is half as mad at Trump as Dr. Fauci is, watch out! Though I suppose it’s more along the Harry Trumanism that he’s not giving them hell. He just tells the truth, and they think it’s hell.

Hopefully, he’s not going to invest it in hydroxychloroquine futures.

Good for Dr. Fauci! I wonder what organization(s) will get the donation?

I remember one of the things Biden said in his Inauguration speech: Defend the truth, and defeat the lies.

And, by happenstance, my daily calendar has this quote, from Byron Katie: “When I argue with reality, I lose–but only 100 percent of the time.” I feel that way about truth, nature, and science, too.

I think Attorney General Garland will be delivering simply supreme court justice to T****.

Quite clearly Anthony will be taken off Trump’s Christmas card list, but Bravo! Dr. Fauci. Anyone who speaks this kind of truth to despots deserves a standing ovation. Well done.

Merrick, but yes. That is if Moscow Mitch doesn’t filibuster his confirmation.

OT: Whoa! Biden takes a 2x4 to MBS. Dismisses him for the world to see. It’s a new world, folks, and I like it. He still hasn’t called Bibi yet either. According to the Bloomberg article, he plans to call Bibi “soon”.

Confirmations can no longer be filibustered, thanks to Mitch.

I started my undergrad in astronomy over 30 years ago, and I have been defending science ever since. It used to be a small number of people who spouted off nonsense, and who were mostly amenable to learning the facts; the religious were almost always impervious, and got angry that I refused to submit to their vociferous insistence against science facts. The religious influence has grown in the past 30 years, and things are far worse today, as now it’s enmeshed with politics and seen as a religious war. I now find that minds that are closed to science are not reachable, and far more inclined to a violent reaction against learning about it.

It’s not a good trend, and it must be reversed or else the nation will remain at risk. It’s really due to the influence of the Christian militants that want to replace the Constitution with the Bible…they are going to be the end of our democracy if we allow it.

Trump’s Vaccination plan was “rather vague.” That is really, really droll.

Funny but I didn’t read this as about covid at all. It was more a surge of fierce relief, like a lost child might feel at being found again. We’re in the care once more of competent and decent people. Things won’t be perfect, but at least they’ll try. God, God, God but it’s been a long four years. :family_man_woman_girl_boy:

Soon enough. You have to let him squirm a bit first.
