Experts Brush Off Hegseth, Trump’s Latest Arguments for Blowing Through Today’s War Powers Deadline

You don’t need to consult legal experts or engage in complex analysis to know that Trumpworld’s claim that the war is over is the purest bullshit. Just play the tape of Hegseth’s testimony to congress a couple of days ago, where he said over and over in a dozen different ways that we were at war, and attacked congress, and particularly congressional Ds, for not supporting the war unreservedly.

They will say whatever they feel they need to say. We don’t need to pretend that they are not constantly contradicting themselves, nor should we take seriously the latest thing they pull out of their ass.

For the sake of national security and growth of the economy I hope none of the living presidents honor this sick fuck by attending the funeral. It would be to honor all the damage he has inflicted on this nation.

They should all RSVP and then cancel last second with a text. They have other priorities. Like binging Ted Lasso and ordering pizza.

This move should come as no surprise as it has been determined in court that felony fraud is his specialty. Convicted of 34 counts, is it?

Read this somewhere, don,t remember where.

Trump’s and Hegseth’s toilet paper has printed instructions on how to use.

I hope that Obama and every other former president (including W), as well as every other elected or appointed Democrat (including Supreme Court justices), boycott such a funeral. And I hope that there will be no such state funeral. His bones will deserve being dumped in the Marianas Trench.

You seem to hold something against the Marianas Trench.

Shouldn’t these war authorization/funding issues also apply to the illegal (and inhumane) blockade of Cuba?

That’s very deep.

And all his wives should show up dressed in red.

You’re implying there’s to be an end to this?

Maybe we can send John McCain to TSF’s funeral. Karma.

Blockade or no blockade, a cease fire is not a truce or a surrender; it’s a temporary pause in pursuing ongoing hostilities. Next thing you know, a cease fire will become a victory. We know what “mission creep” is; this is “language creep.”

Looking now at the New York Times online, with a story saying Trump isn’t “satisfied” with Iran’s “latest proposal to end the war.” It follows logically, and inescapably, that the war is not over. Just a few inches away on my laptop screen I see a story on Trump claiming in letters to both House and Senate that the war has been “terminated.” One story, the war isn’t over. The other story, the war is over. Same day, same news site.

Hilariously, or maybe, I don’t know, maddeningly, or heartbreakingly, the article where Trump says the war is over includes a quote from what he said a few hours after sending the letters claiming the war was over. “You know we’re in a war,” Mr. Trump said in remarks in Florida. “Because I think you would agree we cannot let lunatics have a nuclear weapon.”

What can I say. Cuckoo?

If the war has terminated, as Trump and Hegseth indicate, then they will be withdrawing their request for an additional $200 billion to fund the war, right?

Um, right?

Trump then goes on to explain, however, that “the threat posed by Iran to the United States and our Armed Forces remains significant. Accordingly, the Department of War continues to update its force posture in the AoR in select countries, as necessary and appropriate, to address Iranian and Iranian proxy forces’ threats and to protect the United States and its allies and partners. “

I categorically do not believe that that imbecile would use “AoR” – correctly, even – in anything that he actually wrote.

We could give him the same kind of burial as Osama Bin Laden. Who probably did less damage to this nation, by the way.

Don’t underestimate the psychic damage that the mere fact of the impeachment vote would inflict on that horribly deformed, shriveled soul. Losing an impeachment vote means losing, and he hates to lose.

A pity, then, that it seems to be one of the few things he’s reliably good at.
