The Trump administration is trying to wriggle out of a legal requirement to end its war with Iran, experts told TPM — and to do so, it’s trying to convince everyone to focus on the wrong thing. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth claimed before Congress Thursday that the administration’s ceasefire with Iran stops the War…

Trump and Hegseth display all of the hallmarks of alcoholic behavior. Trump allegedly a dry drunk, Hegseth a wet drunk. AI says:

“While no single personality causes alcoholism, individuals with alcohol use disorder (AUD) often share common traits, including high impulsivity, low self-esteem, emotional instability, and a tendency toward isolation or secrecy. These behaviors, often deemed an “alcoholic personality,” frequently include defensiveness, denial, and difficulty managing emotions, which can lead to strained relationships.”

So what? Trump and Hegseth will blow off the experts. Don’t mean to be flippant, but we will soon enter impeachment territory. Very soon.

the administration’s ceasefire with Iran stops the War Powers Resolution’s 60-day clock

If your eight-year-old came up with this argument, you’d consider getting them tested.

Right now, we are trying to broker a peace,” Johnson said

Peace is the absence of war, so if you’re trying to broker a peace then you are, by definition, at war.

Clarification on the cat picture:

They are not caged. One of the kidding seasons at the goat farm, son in law decided that, with all the mommas in kidding stalls, this would be a good time to muck out the general population area where the mommas and babies would go in a few weeks.

The hay feeder was emptied out and two of the barn cats decided this was a good place to have a nap.

It’s nice to see our esteemed leaders playing Calvinball again. (Bill Watterson once said, “People have asked how to play Calvinball. It’s pretty simple: you make up the rules as you go.”)

I really don’t understand why Trump (at least claims that he) “fears” impeachment since there’s no way in this (or probably the next) Senate that 2/3 will vote to convict. He can just add another tally to being “the only president ever…” impeached and acquitted X number of times.

“some Republicans who have been sticking with the president up until now are indicating a shift in their stance and pointing toward the 60-day clock as their reasoning.

Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) on Thursday became the first Republican to change their stance on the war powers votes”

Susan Collins was booed out of a town hall the other day. I think it was mostly over Trump’s war.

Hegseth grunt talks and for once AI is on the money:
In 1984, “grunt speech” refers to the Party’s aim to reduce language to raw, animalistic sounds (Newspeak) that destroy the capacity for independent thought. It represents the ultimate goal of Oceania: replacing articulate thought with reflexive noises—like ducks quacking—to ensure loyalty, reduce emotional depth, and make thoughtcrime impossible.

BTW George Orwell’s 1984 is packed with iconic lines detailing totalitarianism, surveillance, and control, most notably “War is peace, Freedom is slavery, Ignorance is strength,” and “Big Brother is Watching You”. Other famous quotes include “Who controls the past controls the future. Who controls the present controls the past” and “If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face—forever”.
