Expect To Hear From A Bunch Of Election Lawyers On Nov. 3 | Talking Points Memo

NEW YORK (AP) — Television networks are adding experts in election law to their election night coverage teams so they’re prepared to explain legal challenges or irregularities that may come up during the vote.

We don’t need the media to present spin doctors to explain the ins and outs. We need them to consistently call out all allegations of voter fraud/intimidation, on both the right and the left (if they can find any) and clearly label the illegal activity. Any alleged allegations that are total bullshit, should be labeled as such.

That won’t be helpful. Legalese with a political bent is hardly what we need. If Biden wins I think that’s enough. It’s what we wanted…it’s done and no analysis is needed. None of that shit has been right in the past. It’s common for a person with a credentials to be clueless. Tune in Tuesday night if you want some examples.

Someone is going to win that election. That will reflect the choice of the American people. The last time Courts were the picker we ended up with a bogus war in Iraq and the 100’s of thousands dead because of it, an exacerbation of a hurricane’s damage and a collapsed economy. Personally I think SCOTUS does a shitty job pocking presidents so lets tell these fucking TV lawyers to STFU and stop setting those assholes in robes up to do it again.

There’s a good OpEd on that topic in WaPo.

The Supreme Court shouldn’t decide voting cases. It keeps getting them wrong.

I’m surprised nobody picked up Rick Hasen, who is pretty much the national go-to expert on election law.

Q: What do they call a law student who graduated last in their class?
A: A lawyer.

Or in Donnie’s case, deflection lawyers.

Fox News is relying on its in-house team of legal analysts

Can’t be much worse than the out-house teams the others are fielding …

To state it is to explain it.

The TV lawyers will try their best to keep the horserace alive but if Biden wins bigly, there won’t be much to chatter about.

Exactly. Any realistic chance of Trump flipping the election through legal shenanigans would require a very close, single state tipping point like Florida in 2000. If Trump needs the ballot counts in several different states flipped to win, it’s over. Not even this SCOTUS would touch that scenario with a 10 foot pole.

There’s a good chance the picture will be clear by midnight Tuesday or no later than Wednesday, and these consultants will be out of a job.

And TV exec’s will have to go back to hard news. Not even sure what ‘hard news’ is anymore.

Not in 2016

These TV lawyers might help Dumb Fuck Donnie’s lawyers by pointing out long forgotten statements or court rulings just to show how knowledgeable they are and more problems in the election.
MSM just do your job and point out all you know.

This is a pure Trump campaign. Lie, cheat and steal then hire a battalion of lawyers to make the cheating and chiseling stand up in court.

The guy hasn’t changed one bit from what we always knew he was.

Waiting for election results is not something new. Bush v Gore, Al Franken and many other races have required days to weeks to months to be counted and certified. In light of this history, how does Trump have any right to declare that results must be in by the end of Tuesday? Furthermore, how is it possible that SCOTUS could unilaterally decide that the other late counts and decisions were ok but this one is not? Do we seriously think they would go that far? I know SCOTUS has been corrupted but this is akin to them shooting someone on 5th Avenue and getting away with it. This would ensure the addition of many justices in a future Democratic administration. Will they really blow themselves up in service to Trump?

Yes, I expect the august firm of Dewey, Cheatham & Howe will be representing Georgia, Florida, and Texas. Oh, you meant commentators? I thought you were referring to the Secretaries of state.

Biden has a pretty good team of lawyers to handle the aftermath. Good to see Marc Elias on his legal team. He’s been around the block a few times.
Mostly, he will be overseeing the voting process and count.

Democratic lawyer Marc Elias and a team of lawyers from his firm, Perkins Coie, will focus on protecting voter access and ensuring a fair and accurate vote count

These same networks that are unwilling to say, “The wrong guy is being given the win”. In year 2000 they prattled on and on about how the florida exit polls were wrong, when if you adjusted the results for the butterfly ballot that switched an extra 10,000 democratic votes to pat buchanan, the exit polls were dead on.

Call it like it is, or shut up.

What did the lawyer who just stepped in a big, fresh, stinking pile of dog shit say? “I’m melting, I’m melting!”

The only lawyer worth hearing from is gonna be someone named Bill Barr and he’s gonna be otherwise engaged for the next few months.

The rest of these are clowns in the circus who will lose all their credibility when the administration does the promised unimaginable.
