The Republican nominee for a seat in the Florida House of Representatives marched alongside neo-Nazis at the deadly 2017 “Unite the Right” rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, a new Talking Points Memo investigation can reveal. Marshall Rawson — who won an upset victory in Florida’s District 10 Republican primary last month — attended the infamous Charlottesville…
I’m trying to think of any reason that he wouldn’t assume he could get elected in Florida.
“Totalitarianism in power invariably replaces all first-rate talents, regardless of their sympathies, with those crackpots and fools whose lack of intelligence and creativity is still the best guarantee of their loyalty.” ― Hannah Arendt, The Origins of Totalitarianism
And we’ll continue to glibly traipse around pretending it gives us the moral high ground that we allow them to multiply and gain power and do their thing. It doesn’t. As can be seen by the past 150 years, it destroys the country and the freedom and security future generations are entitled to.
People like this need subjugating, not tolerance.
I don’t see how anyone could be surprised by a Republican being an open bigot.
Technically we need a Reconstruction but the SC dismantled the Voting Rights Act because in their opinion, this is the Reconstruction we need.
Funky times. Stay mobile.
Only the best people, courtesy of Florida Man they’ve all got permission to be their worst selves.
Let’s stop pussyfooting around; these people are NAZIS period. No “Neo” need be attached. They are fascist bigots and they have no place in our body politic, let alone civilized society. Course, if he lives in N. Florida, that last part has been taken car of. (No offense to any liberal residents.)
Great reporting. Detailed biographies may not prevent racist trash like Marshall Rawson from getting elected in red states but accurately identifying the enemy is essential to resistance and TPM has done that well here.
I’ve been extremely transparent about my campaign agenda, and any donation to my campaign is presumably an endorsement of my agenda
His agenda is the same as the rethug agenda highlighted by Reagan when he announced his campaign in Philadelphia Mississippi.
A GOP member defending Human Trafficking, rape and murder. And worried about discrimination against whites.
And where are the “White Codes”?
It wasn’t me. Not my shirt.

Ok, Ok. I found Jesus?
My constituents are okay with it.
Mainstream media: something something HASAN PIKER argle bargle
Aye, that’s when fresh anti-democratic poison was injected into America’s veins, and it’s good to remember it; e.g.,
You start out in 1954 by saying, “Nigger, nigger, nigger.” By 1968 you can’t say “nigger”—that hurts you, backfires. So you say stuff like, uh, forced busing, states’ rights, and all that stuff, and you’re getting so abstract. Now, you’re talking about cutting taxes, and all these things you’re talking about are totally economic things and a byproduct of them is, blacks get hurt worse than whites.… “ — Lee Atwater, Reagan strategist (1984; The Nation)
I’m just shocked the 10th District isn’t in the Redneck Rivieria! I want to know where the NY Jews are who all moved to Florida are.
“fighting to restore the South as White Man’s Land.”
The South never was White Man’s Land. It was the land where white men sat around in pretty outfits, sipping wine, while black people fed them. Yes. They were that lazy.
Fighting? Maybe to stay awake.
