He should have taken a stand, used his WaPo. Is yacht plus support yacht not enough?
His ex-wife seems really nice; just keeps quietly doing good with her share of the $$.

Leavitt: "The American people deserve a, umm, an uh, umm, whatever-the-hell-it’s called branch full of honest arbiters of the law who want to protect democracy, not subvert it.”
Reporter: “It’s called the executive branch, Ms Leavitt. That’s the one you work for.”
Leavitt: “Ok, you’re banned for a week.”
Are reactionary authoritarians always the dipshitty? Am I learning this truth now, so late in my life?
I do hope Mr. Schleifer prevails in court. I also want to see approval ratings in the 30s.
I hope Amazon starts selling eggs at pre-2020 prices to help the President. The prices of eggs and other food items is out control.
Jerry Powell, the Republican Federal Reserve minion, is groveling to the Organization to keep his job, and not trying to rein in inflation. This is a recipe for an economic disaster. I am wishing that DOGE downsizes or transfers the powers and duties of the Federal Reserve to the White House.
More MAGgot nonsense. Powell is trying to stem inflation. Trump doesn’t care or understand, like you.
Schleifer was dismissed in an email that came directly from a White House official, with no apparent reason
“Because they let you.”
Don’t let the author. Make him answer for his poor judgment.
I was thinking Yoda myself.
Yep. That’ll be a lot of screw screwing, you know? ; - )
I wonder if tariff money will be off-the-books, maybe way off? Will I be unable to see the actual cost of the thing I’m buying?
Ha!. Oh dear. Thanks for catching my error.
Yes, Schrodinger… not Schroeder.
Some retailers will end up posting the price (costco, temu, wayfaire, etc), or someone will make a browser plug-in.
The government will respond with some sort of price control and/or make it illegal to post the tarrif price broken out.
Play stupid games.
Win stupid prizes.
I think you will notice when the price jumps by 50% or more. Trump thinks he can hide the price surge by not talking about it, like COVID deaths? Actually, the huge wave of mortality that is coming in this country might get our minds off prices for a time. Who wants to shop when you just found out that Grandma died of starvation and wasn’t found for weeks because Meals on Wheels stopped coming?
And @zandru
I was reviewing my accounts yesterday and needed a new password to access Amazon. I chose FuckBezos, and then, when I got in, cancelled my Prime account and the credit card from Chase.
Convenience is nice (and I did like Kindle) but don’t need it - especially when it supports a Fascist coup against Democracy.
Absolutely. Here’s the quote from Leavitt’s email justifying the firing of Schleifer: “The White House, in coordination with the Department of Justice, has dismissed more than 50 U.S. Attorneys and Deputies in the past few weeks. The American people deserve a judicial branch full of honest arbiters of the law who want to protect democracy, not subvert it.” She apparently doesn’t realize that the Dept she allegedly runs is in the Executive Branch, not the Judicial Branch.
Sigh.
I guessed the story would end with you having to pick a different password, as your first choice was already overused.
Well, there were a few other characters after the first 9
Trump is losing right now but unless Democrats come up with a reason to vote for them there is no reason to believe he will be losing in November 2026. Republicans are well funded and in control of most of the press. Unless the Democrats come up with a reason to vote for them the Democrats will lose. Something beats nothing almost every time.
Democrats have to tell suburban whites why voting for them is going to help them in the long run. Democrats have to upset the ethnic apple cart with a message that appeals to everyone.
Not sure I agree with this. Negative partisanship in the 21st Century is MUCH, MUCH stronger than any positive partisanship. The best offense the Dems have in 2026 is not being in the GOP. Just look at what just happened in Canada. The Liberals didn’t get any more popular, but the Conservatives were conflated with Trump and lost a 20+ point lead. It will happen here too.
In addition, I give you JB Pritzer’s address to the New Hampshire Democratic Party this past weekend as an example of what is coming from the uprising of the opposition. Gov. Pritzker is not a WDC Democrat and he gets it. He laid the wood to Trump and his corrupt minions, and it’s WAY EARLY in the cycle.
By 2026 I expect a lot of DNC-sponsored burning of Trump mannequins in effigy on the campaign trail. We are already seeing a lot of burning of Tesla’s. The fun has just begun.
Kamala Harris tried negative partisanship in 2024 and it didn’t work. Hillary Clinton tried it in 2016 and it didn’t work. Biden convinced enough people that he was going to return peace to America in 2020 which worked because Trump really fucked up Covid.
Going negative exclusively just doesn’t seem that persuasive to me. Democrats need to go after the suburbs and both men and women. In too much of the country Democrats are successful only in black urban communities. I think that approach might have made sense earlier in the century but integration has worked to a bigger degree than a lot of politicians are willing to admit. Black and brown voters are more interested in economic issues than a lot of old time urban pols think.
Fun facts: In 1967 3% of Americans were in interracial relationships. Recently that percentage has been about 19%. The percentages are much higher for same sex couples and for people who live together without benefit of marriage. People just aren’t shocked when a child brings home a potential spouse of another race. Race is just less important to most Americans than a lot of us think. .
