That Alexander, with nothing politically to lose, produced such a mealy-mouthed statement sheds light on the general Republican compliance to go along with Trump’s charade.
I guess I’m going out on a limb here and say these Republicans have no personal convictions or ethics, which also leads me to believe that they also hold no “sincerely held religious beliefs”.
Lamar Alexander is this week’s* winner of the “Jeff Flake Profiles in Cowardice Award.”
*Normally, prestigious awards are given out annually, but there’s so much cowardice in the Partei of Traitors, that the judges decided to award it more frequently.
There have been 13 new judges pushed through since Election Day. It’s never been done before with a lame duck president, of course. The latest is unqualified and not ABA approved naturally, but who cares. By January 20, he’ll have pushed through 30.
Is there anything to do about this after Biden is in office? I think a serious impeachment effort needs to be made on the unqualified ones especially.
I wish but apparently they are all out in the countryside doing target practice for the day the president calls them to DC to fight the government.
Which makes loads of sense since the president is part of the government. But I read about one in Texas today, run by a chiropractor. I think that’s the perfect training for an insurgent.
I could be mistaken, but my recollection is that presidential nominations expire with the outgoing Congress. That means no more confirmations starting January 3.
Yep. Tampering with an election is a felony I believe. Plus, so is some kind of in-kind contribution for a candidate, probably even after the election if the election suddenly comes into question on account of their actions to find ways to deny the results of a fairly conducted election process…which to-date is what has been concluded as such. It sounds like these lawmakers are going to the White House to risk getting bribed into doing tRump’s bidding. Agreeing to go there, all by itself, seems criminal. There’s no other way to see it imo.
One thing the Trump presidency has made painfully obvious is that there are no moderates or centrists among the Republican Senators. Any potential semblance of wavering is only done to further their personal interests.
Ben Bradlee Jr. wrote an excellent biography of Ted Williams. At the end, Williams was in both physical and mental decline, but his kid had him signing autographs, which he then turned around and sold.
Obviously, trump is not producing a list of judges; his handlers are doing it, and rubber stamping everything. They will keep sending them to the turtle as fast as he can get them broomed through the senate, until the window closes, whenever that is.
There will be no confirmations between Jan. 3 and Jan. 20. There is no conceivable theory of the Senate that results in any judge being nominated and confirmed in barely more than two weeks time. Ain’t gonna happen. Cain’t happen.
I am confident you are right. I am not disputing the end date (as I said, I don’t know when it is). I am just opining that McConnell will be confirming judges until the last possible minute; if he can get the republicans to show up on Christmas Eve, he will confirm one then.
