In today’s print edition of the Sunday New York Times, there is ZERO coverage of Trump’s terrorist threat yesterday of bloodshed if he loses the November election and ZERO coverage of his V.P. Pence refusing to endorse him for president.

ZERO.

Tim Scott Continues To Demean Himself For Trump’s VP Spot | Crooks and Liars
After being asked by Sean Hannity if Republicans were organizationally prepared for the 2024 election — a concern raised by former RNC chairman Reince Priebus — Scott launched into an obsequious rant about the virtues of the GOP standard bearer and his kin.

"Well, let me tell you what: If there’s anyone paying attention to the details in 2024, it’s Donald Trump. Who is now running, co-running the RNC? Lara Trump. Why? Because he understands that the devil’s in the details, so he puts his brilliant daughter-in-law in charge of our RNC apparatus so that all that Reince talked about, wise, wise man he is, will be taken care of,” argued Scott. “We’re going to focus on getting the vote out early, often, mail-in.”

I share your outrage with the NYT on the whole but not on this point. Last night (Sat. night) the NYT published an article on Trump’s rally with a strong headline: “Trump Says Migrants Are 'Not People” And Predicts a Blood Bath If He Loses: In a Caustic and Discursive Speech in Ohio, former President Donald J. Trump once again doubled down on a doomsday vision of the United States."* The article contained quite biting language, for the Times. (WaPo was relatively vapid on the subject.) Glancing through the first section of today’s print edition, I found only articles that could have been written at least a day ago, including a couple that were definitely online at least a day or two ago. (Ditto Sunday’s/today’s Opinion section.) I think the Times simply put Sunday’s paper to bed before Trump spoke at the Moreno rally in Ohio. Since some people who read the Times read only the Sunday print edition, that’s too bad, but I doubt that’s a whole lot of people.

Today’s lead article on the front page of the print addition is not favorable to Trump: “Trump Allies Are Winning War Over Disinformation: Their Claims of Censorship Stymie Efforts to Tamp Down Election Lies Online.”

The Washington Post is somewhat better.

VANDALIA, Ohio — Former president Donald Trump ratcheted up his dehumanizing rhetoric against immigrants Saturday by saying that some who are accused of crimes are “not people.”

“I don’t know if you call them people,” he said at a rally near Dayton, Ohio. “In some cases they’re not people, in my opinion. But I’m not allowed to say that because the radical left says that’s a terrible thing to say.”

Seems like a curious decision. If two MAGA anti-vaxxers and anti-trans nurses complained that their views were being unfairly repressed and started nominally organizing, then would they be protected to start wearing MAGA hats and Q pins at work under this precedent?
