An abortion fight that made it all the way to the Supreme Court was dismissed Wednesday, as the Trump Justice Department dropped a case its Biden predecessor had brought to try to protect emergency room abortions in Idaho.  The Biden DOJ had sued Idaho, arguing that its near-complete abortion ban violates the Emergency Medical Treatment…

Presumably Meyers is an MD, to be able to make the flat declaration that abortion is never the stabilizing treatment? Evil SOB.

In Texas, I suppose, the pilots of the airplanes that airlifted women for out-of-state abortions would have to worry about liabilities arising from lawsuits by monetarily interested citizens.

It seems that in certain cases, abortion is clearly required in Idaho and any other state. I don’t practice law, but can look things up.

Generative AI results/background are below.

Yes, abortion can be a stabilizing treatment for the mother when it’s necessary to treat an emergency medical condition, according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). This is because the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA) requires hospitals to provide stabilizing care in emergency situations.

  • EMTALA requires hospitals to provide stabilizing care for patients experiencing an emergency medical condition.

  • This includes abortion care when it’s the medically indicated treatment to stabilize a pregnant patient.

  • If a state law prohibits abortion and doesn’t include an exception for the life of the pregnant person, EMTALA preempts that state law.
Physicians have a professional and legal duty to provide an abortion if its necessary to stabilize an emergency medical condition.

Examples of emergency medical conditions that may require an abortion include: ectopic pregnancy, severe preeclampsia, and miscarrage complications.

In July 2022, the HHS issued guidance clarifying that hospitals and physicians have obligations to provide stabilizing care, including abortion, in emergency situations.

Specifically, the guidance states: "If a physician believes that a pregnant patient presenting at an emergency department is experiencing an emergency medical condition as defined by EMTALA, and that abortion is the stabilizing treatment necessary to resolve that condition, the physician must provide that treatment.

Our hospitals are full in Spokane. My father-in-law spent the night in the hallway, in pain from pancreatitis. He has a room now.

Despite the fact that our hospitals are full, We will make room for the women and womb holders in need of care from Post Falls and Coeur d’Alene. My Idaho neighbors are welcome, and if we have to sleep in the hall, we will.

We are in this together.

Thank you!

I was really more talking about Idaho being set up like Oregon. That is, racist to the core.

Joni was having an affair with a lobbyist, by the way. Did you see the reporting on that?

You mean this one?
Yeah, I haven’t heard US Senator Chuck Grassley or the criminal president working for Putin disparage it, so it must be in line with Putin‘s plan for the future of our country. I wonder if Putin has kompromat on Joni and Christopher. I wonder all GOP elected officials in Washington are as dirty?

If that needed treatment is an abortion, the government argued, Idaho providers must perform them.

Wouldn’t letting a patient die, who you could have healed, be… like… murder?

This President is the murder president. He has made that abundantly clear. He has accepted no responsibility for over 900,000 dead from Mismanagement and their dereliction of duty With regard to COVID-19. Because Ukraine did not surrender to Putin, this criminal president claimsthat Ukraine started the war. We are talking about the war bombs down on Ukraine school children. He jokes that he could shoot someone on fifth Avenue and people would love him all the more.

It’s 2025, and the president of the United States is the murder president.

On the other hand, it seems that he has never met an extortion that he didn’t like.

I’ve never been pregnant so I can’t speak from experience. But I have had very painful conditions like exploding ovarian cysts and a ruptured appendix. Guessing that a pregnancy situation that could only stabilized by an abortion would be even more painful. Any extra second of pain would be torture. Airlifting would make the agony last longer, even under the best conditions. These assholes just don’t care.

Getting kompromat on those messianic two-faces must have been the easiest work they ever did. Putin has done the same in the UK as here, but it would have been more work by far.

Best place to find an evangelical preacher is cruising prostitutes on the strip or full of meth and taking all-comers in a truckstop latrine.

Starting to think the churches that told the children of the South it was OK to kill their fellow Americans should have been burnt to the ground.

They better be this time round. Gas is cheap.

I have no special claim to any special knowledge there, I am just referring to reputable sources, such as investigative reporters of high regard. It should be easy to agree that hundreds of thousands died . That he said those words is a fact, to my understanding. That we are seeing psychopathic thuggish actions, acts, behavior at this time in a chronic , pathological bent to destroy truth itself and f-ing dismantle the rule of law, so down that he always propaganda and tries to pass it off on us. In this administration, such a deliberate malice! Before now deliberate indifference was bad. No actual deliberate malice is being tolerated by courts and the country

I have have no special information. How can we not see it in legit press and not do something about it. Even if all we do is find some real GOP patriots Who are willing to put country over a party.
I picture this GOP rebel might be having trouble, even suicidal at the thought of selling out his country. In moral crisis, he doesn’t see the downside of being an independent thinker. Might do it for the vote if he had a good Plan B.

Well if ID or any other state is really going to ban all abortions then they must be required to post their mortality rates twice a year. I know this won’t happen but I think pregnant women in ID should be able to sue the state legislature if their pregnancy complication leaves them unable to carry another pregnancy to term.

Things don’t get worked out until they get litigated.
Even then, it’s a crapshoot?
