“We came here and created a blank slate. We birthed a nation from nothing. I mean, there was nothing here,” he said. “I mean, yes we have Native Americans, but candidly there isn’t much Native American culture in American culture.”
Hey, Rick, the founding fathers would like to have a word with you.
I heard that story this AM as well, and yeah, I do remember when that happened, and I remember thinking it was wild at the time, but also that there must’ve really been something going on there for the cops to go that extreme. Which, to be honest, is about the same way I feel now (and felt then) about the Branch Davidian situation. In both of these cases, it’s pretty clear there’s a cult leader who is no less culpable than, say, Keith Raniere, and equally criminal. Still, the out of control use of force…I mean: there were kids killed in every one of these situations. It’s probably the difference between being childless at the time I heard about these events and being a parent now, but I’m just…gobsmacked at “they bombed their own city block” and also at how little it really shook me at the time.
If the natives had known what the Europeans did in the Caribbean starting in 1491, they’d have exterminated every paleface who came on these shores. With warranted prejudice.
Hard to imagine that he is really that ignorant. Native Americans were able to live here in harmony with our natural resources for thosands of years. Kiowa When a man moves away from nature his heart becomes hard.
Rick needed to make a splash and remain newsworthy, as his on-air defense of Donald Trump avoiding harsh words for white supremacists because they’re his core supporters fades into the background.
