Newly minted Twitter CEO Elon Musk threatened to reassign National Public Radio’s official account — which uses the @NPR handle — to “another company” on Tuesday, weeks after the non-profit media organization announced it will no longer post content on Twitter.

NPR needs to start posting Onion-like trolling “news” stories on its Twitter account. Such as:
“Did Elon’s Weight Gain Contribute to Starship Failure?”
“Tesla Accepts Reality, Introduces Self-Destruct Feature on New Models”
“Starship to Add Auto-Drive Feature on Next Flight”

He’s an asshole.
I abandoned my account so if he wants to sell my name to someone else he can do it and then go fuck himself.

“NPR isn’t tagged as government-funded anymore, so what’s the beef?”
Musk.
More accurately, an incompetent messing with National Public Radio’s valuable branding.
Never join Twitter. Your information isn’t safe.

“National Pumpkin Radio,” Musk wrote, adding a fire emoji and a laughing emoji to describe the content of the fictional gourd-themed broadcaster. “NPR isn’t tagged as government-funded anymore, so what’s the beef?”

@fiftygigs “Never join Twitter. Your information isn’t safe.”
Never did. Never will. Likewise Facebook.

I suppose as an alternative to watching twitter die, this may be an excellent choice.

I would suppose NPR and PBS are copyrighted names, Elon can’t do shit with them.

NPR and PBS can just repost old stories from their archives once per day. I’m sure that Elon would love to have a year’s worth of apartheid coverage.

They should post nothing but Bluesky links.

Oh yeah. Demanding that customers use your service, and threatening them if they don’t, is a great way to build up business … for your competition.
Elon remains a strategic business genius.

Just post that Elon threaten to allow someone to impersonate NPR if they didn’t post. Just post that same message everyday.

If Twitter even has legal counsel any more that counsel will put the kabosh on this stupidity immediately. NPR is a registered trademark. Claims of intentional infringement of a registered mark is NOT what Twitter needs right now.

Or pictures of women Elon dated then dumped.
Supervillains always include a poorly-thought-out self-destruct feature in the design. It’s one of the rules, just as much as “reveal your entire plan while gloating over the captured hero, instead of just shooting him in the head when you have the chance”.

While his motive was not known, the student had “planned the execution of this criminal offense for a long period of time,” said Mr. Milijic, who shared a list of names that the perpetrator had compiled and a sketch map of the school, where he had charted a path to enter and kill his “primary targets.”

This is a worthwhile read but the punchline fits Musk to a T viz
It is worth remembering that the internet wasn’t supposed to be like this. It wasn’t supposed to be six boring men with too much money creating spaces that no one likes but everyone is forced to use because those men have driven every other form of online existence into the ground.
