Here is Oregon where we have been voting by mail without issue for decades, I always hand deliver my ballot to the drop box at the county courthouse. There are other official drop-box locations, as well. I have been recommending that folks organize escorting folks who need a ride to the drop-box. Delivering them for others has already been tagged VOTER FRAUD (even though it isn’t), so I’m recommending in-person ride sharing.
Love all the presidential masturbation they’re doing. Any money spent there to get precisely zero votes is money that’s not being spent in areas which may be competitive.
Wouldn’t guarantee that. Trump voters are turning against mail in voting as Dems are pushing more and more for it. Wouldn’t be shocking if polling places had Trump ahead on election day, in which case watch out because the true fuckery begins as all the R’s start calling mail in voting invalid.
Doubt it’ll be an issue. With all the publicity about votes not getting counted and whatnot, increases the odds of folks being proactive, either by bringing their ballots in by hand, voting in person, or the like.
If there’s enough fear that votes really won’t be counted, the lines will be out the door, I know I decided to make sure I’m there in person, can’t believe that I would be the only one.
Trump is going to declare himself the winner before sunup Wednesday, then enlist as many allies, supporters, courts, Governors and Red State election boards as possible in chiming in they agree. He’ll bank on bullying and bowling over the electorate, putting Biden in a “Loser until proven the winner” position. Then go about preventing him from being able to prove anything.
The first primary vote was fucked up. Here in Texas the primary went very smoothly and except for the run-offs, we knew the results by the next morning.
One of the things that people are not talking about which has been a factor in WI and one other state, enough poll workers. If you don’t have trained poll workers, and polling stations then you get what happened in Louisville, KY. And then in GA where Kemp actively screws with minority polling places.
Every state should set a time to start opening and tabulating mailed in ballots, none of this waiting for election day crap. If it takes a governor’s EO or the state legislature to pass something then DO IT NOW!
What Team Trump wants is for people to throw up their hands, get despondent with lead-ins like this and succumb to incumbency.
By the end of this month, with likely upwards of 6,000,000 COVID cases and WWII Combat-death-level COVID killed, I doubt that the handwringing Team Trump is anticipating will occur.
It’s hoping in vain to expect Red State Governors will not do everything possible to tilt their election results to favor Trump. My understanding is States make their election rules. I easily see a Red Guv issuing an executive order to discontinue counting ballots, or stick to some ridiculous “ballot received late/postmarked late/ hey, this batch was found too late” bullshit. Whatever monkey business they can pull they’ll pull. Meanwhile, Blue State Governors will want things done ethically and legally, and will not step over the line in Biden’s favor.
