I’m not attempting to minimize mental illness here, but shouldn’t Tina Peters be considered to have some form of of mental illness with her words and actions before the judge in her case?
Peters was tearful at times during her sentencing but remained unapologetic, which further irritated the sentencing judge. “You cannot help but lie as easy as you breathe,” he told her.
In handing down Peters’ sentence, the judge said he considered her convictions serious and noted that prison is for “people who are a danger to all of us.”

In Asheville we got texts from our state rep with information on how to get help. etc. Not one word from Chuck Edwards, who had been busily sending campaign stuff the week before. I wondered if he went to Cancun with Ted.

I actually think it’s kind of brilliant. She makes it so the public can see Jack Smith’s filing before the election but probably won’t get to see IQ45‘s hate- and lie-filled response before the election. It’s not like she was gonna make a decision before the election anyway so…

I had actually been one of those initially resistant to Biden stepping down, because I believed it was improbable that Harris could pick up the ball and run with it so well, and also because stepping down would unleash a flood of “Democrats in disarray” stories from the ever-malicious media. But if this Reuters piece about his answers to questions about the Middle East is any gauge, it’s just as well things happened as they did:
‘Asked if he worried an Israeli strike on Iran’s oil facilities would raise oil prices, he said; “If a hurricane hits, prices are going to go up. I don’t know; who knows.”’
(Here on planet earth, spot crude prices spiked with news of the Iranian missile strike, as anyone could predict.)
‘Biden was also asked why he had not spoken to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in recent days. He replied: “Because there’s no action going on right now.”’
