So the Michigan Republicans want some right wing hot-head who looks like this guy on the left?
Cori Bush was defeated again in Missouri.
Will the electorate’s rejection of establishment figures usher in a new era of Democratic politicians, or will it result in the fumbling of critical and winnable seats?
FFS, this sounds like a Schumer talking point. The only “fumbling” is from the spineless Dems like Schumer who put so much time, money, and effort into propping up a terrible Senate candidate in Stevens rather than either keeping to the sidelines or supporting Al-Sayeed.
The biggest tell for me about if Al-Sayeed can win was this last week when Rodgers claimed that he’d rather face Al-Sayeed than Stevens in the general. This blatantly obvious case of The lady doth protest too much was so clearly an attempt to sway undecided/late deciding Dems to vote for Stevens instead because Rodgers knew he had a much better chance to beat her.
What Michigan voters showed is that El Sayed has barely enough enthusiasts to scrape through in a primary. Not a thrilling proof of concept of activating indifferent voters. He needs to re-think.
Since the battle in the GE will be for control of the Senate he can expect to face even more money in the general.
He’s talking about mending fences. It may be more like unburning bridges. Let’s hope he can because the alternative is Trump controlling the Senate.
Trump endorsed - totally synthetic - a puffed up empty suit - with all of the political acumen of a Herschel Walker
Michigan voters also showed us that Stevens did not have enough enthusiasts.
Against a massively over funded and centrist-endorsed incumbent.
Yours is an over simplification.

Please let go of your pearls. Regardless of national media coverage, it was still a primary the middle of summer in a state that traditionally does not have big voter turnouts for such elections. But wild how you choose to ignore the 10-1 spending advantage that Stevens had when you want to complain about Al-Sayeed’s turnout.
Anyway, it’s cleat there is zero chance you’d have written a similar comment if Stevens had somehow won.
Kudos to Stevens and McMorrow for not spending even a day walking around poochy mouthed because they lost, even if their opponent “just scraped by.” They’ve set a good example for others that it’s time to set sights on winning the General.
See above. Percentage of the win margin is the wrong metric.
Yep! … “Made with AI”
what a doofus!
yes, this is the “seriousness” - or lack there of - of this dork
“They’ve set a good example for others that it’s time to set sights on winning the General.”
Having lived with someone who could get elected to office in the reddest of communities, the only “metric” that I’m used to is “Win”/“Didn’t win.”
We sill find out if the people of Michigan have had enought of the same old same old bullshit from the political class.
It is really hard for the gray hairs to hand over the reins to the next generation.
I’d call a squeaker a squeaker any day of the week.
Yeah. I’m so old I can even remember when Bernie lost.
And we can also note even Stevens got more primary votes than Slotkin… did in 2024
I am so old I can even remember when Democrats were winning regularly. Before Ronald Reagan told us all about welfare queens in gold cadillacs.
American politics has been swinging back and forth since John Adams. Some periods are pretty liberal and others are pretty conservative. You can tell who is about to go out of fashion by looking at just how corrupt and out of touch with regular voters they are. Most Americans want government that works for them. Not government that works for the political class.
Politics in America is about to swing to the left but only if the Democrats can prove they really care about the regular voters.
Don’t go dissing Brian Dennehy. ![]()

Does it, though? Consider:
El-Sayed won with 740,950 votes out of 1,528,257.
2 years ago, Slotkin won her primary by 490,000 votes. MUCH better activation, right?
She won with 712,791 of 933,053.
Theoretically, all of her voters fit within Stevens’ 726,057 losing total.
I dunno, I think 600,000 more people turning out for the primary might indicate some activation, no?
