This is a farce.
How can he possibly console this poor, grieving community when he’s been the author of the vilest, most despicable rhetoric ever heard from a President, and appears to have at least indirectly incited the terrorist who committed these atrocities?
Who the hell wants to listen to him? I’ll be shocked if in two days he doesn’t revert back to his baseline racism/white nationalism. This is just shameless.
Worse than farce. Its an insult to the community of El Paso to have him come there, and he should know it but he has no self-awareness, and even if he did, he wants the focus back on himself doing some kind of benevolent thing even though there is nothing benevolent about him. This is the only way he can pretend to do that at this point. He’s malevolent at his core.
Really…compare his monotone delivery today to his impassioned, energetic tone at the Florida rally where he joked about an acolyte yelling “shoot them.”
I’d say until that bill is paid there is a justifiable reason not to provide any help, period. Let him bring his own and since it will be another rally let the REPUGS pay. I’d sure not want him in my town.
It would appear that people are mad as hell and aren’t taking it anymore - judging by what I’ve read and heard in the media. Just the gut-level emotion from people you don’t normally expect it from, like seasoned politicos and media veterans, who normally serve platitudes and leave it at that.
But there’s real anger at what Trump has wrought. And if inciting racism is his electoral strategy, he damn well better think again.
It’s not noted in the article, but Mayor Dee Margo is a Republican…I suppose that’s why the mayor is going along with it, I suspect a Democrat would have told Trump to stay away. Not that Trump would listen…he’s going to go out there to show people “he cares”, probably because someone (maybe including him) said he would look weak if he stayed away the way the Democrats are demanding. I really, really hope the people of El Paso come out in droves to make a lot of noise at him and tell them how they really feel about his racism.
Everything will continue as the past few weeks up until Labor Day weekend in 2020 then it will be kissie, kissie and the MSM will say everything is well in tRUmplandia and it is a-ok to reelect him.
Trump is who he is. He is man without empathy. But we all have known that for sometime. I really don’t blame him for being a sick puppy. It’s the people who trail him with the shovel that are really the enablers here. When will they step up ?

That reads like a pretty big “fuck you” to me. Rather perfunctory and “Well, I can’t stop him and I have to be polite.”
Yeah, I know…I think a Democrat right now would have gone further. I’m actually surprised a Republican is the mayor, and if that is how a Republican Mayor is reacting then it’s pretty clear that it’s a mine Trump is going to step on by going out there. Though, he does it all the time and never seems to get hurt, we’ll see if this time is any different.
They likely told him that it’s a presidential thing to do.
The mine will be when/if the mayor isn’t a fawning toady, then we can all be certain that Trump will attack him for not doing enough to stop it.
