Durham: “The devil made me do it!”
You know why. Because it’s an object you can buy that makes you feel powerful and special. If you have no other reason to feel that way, it becomes important. And if you’ve seen God only knows how many hours of images of people prevailing over others with guns, it all makes sense. You can’t actually shoot your way to power in an advanced society absent some sort of corrupt subculture that makes people afraid to go to the police, you can’t even point the damn thing at people most of the time, but in people’s minds that somehow doesn’t matter. If anyone tries anything with me I’m ready, man. You feel less vulnerable. These are fearful, fearful people. Everything scares them. So it makes sense to paint “guns” on the side of a campaign bus.
There was a pretty good slingshot involved in taking out a rather sizeable opponent.
At this point with guns, it’s also become a “the other side hates this so we’re going to do it even more” type of statement. They enjoy the reaction that their gun worship causes in people who aren’t members of the cult – it allows them to cast the other side as weak and fearful.
Trump Gotta Testify
Trump had a bad day yesterday: A New York judge ordered him and his two adult children, Ivanka and Donald Trump Jr., to give sworn testimony in an interview with New York Attorney General Letitia James’ (D) office, which is carrying out a civil investigation into the ex-president’s businesses.
… … … …
If trump had a bad day that’s a good thing. More please.
But it’s civil and not criminal. Dammit.

Russia announces nuclear exercises as fresh Ukraine talks planned
The announcement came as the US disclosed revised estimates of Russia’s armed presence near Ukraine, suggesting personnel numbers had increased by more than two thirds since the end of January to 169,000-190,000.
Michael Carpenter, US ambassador to the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe, described it as “the most significant military mobilisation” on the continent since the Second World War.
The timing of the nuclear drills, which US officials had interpreted as a show of strength by Moscow to Nato, will further add to the sense of foreboding in western capitals over Russia intentions in Ukraine.
“WHO’S THAT COMIN’ DOWN THE TRACK? A BIG MACHINE THATS RED AND BLACK… AINT NOTHIN’ FINER IN THE LAND, THAN A CONSERVATIVE KANDISS TAYLOR FAN!!!”
… … … … …
Waaay too much lipstick
I like how Kandiss is standing close to the bus in the picture, and appears very small so the whole bus can be seen.
Some professional photographers - and some reasonably intelligent people - would have her stand closer to the camera, so you can actually see her, with the larger object bus in the background.
Sure, we’re all koombayah-singing arugula eaters, all that. Also, guns are fun. They’re fun to shoot. There are non-crazy reasons to buy a gun. (They’re also kind of a pain to maintain.) I just think if you want an explanation for the cultural phenomenon you should start with the fetishy aspects and work out from there.
Putin considers Ukraine as The crown jewel of an expanded Russian federation (read Soviet Union part two). He wants it…lock, stock and last potato.
Not more bloody elves!?
Wow! they want a government?
I’m not sure a professional even did that. You put her up front and have the bus on a slant, facing in her direction would be one obvious way to go. Also she’s starting to get lost in her image on the bus, which is a rookie mistake.
“He wants it”
“Putin calls it Mykraine”
Steven Colbert
He’s shocked! totally shocked! He had no idea that the slime from under the rock that he slithered out from would do such a nefarious thing!
Any good psychologist can answer that!
Lipstick is fine, but enough cornpone rightwing bullshit coming out of her mouth to sink a frigate.
I think she put her phone on a box, set the timer, and then hustled back to the bus and raised her arms in the air.
In her defense, 100 yards is “slimming”.
