Yup, all in and game over soonish.
Qanon seems to keep its peeps busy. Like kids on a long car ride, just one thing after another to keep them occupied.
Yeah, they’ve spent the last 50 years (and the last 30 more vigorously) shaking the champagne bottle in anticipation of their eventual victory, and no one really knows what’s going to happen when they finally pop that cork.
I think they’ll roll over and fall asleep.
Small minded men and Alito is probably the smallest minded of the bunch.
It’s such a fucking shame that we have Government of the Small Minded Men these days.
Gay marriage first, for sure.
IT may be prayer in school. There’s a case.
Fear not folks.
All we have to do is vote. The problem is that voting does not have the immediacy of a natural disaster in evoking disciplined pushback.
Voting is an endeavor which requires (for all) a sequence of things, any one of which can be commandeered by the wrong people. It also requires legions of people to participate, any one of whom can decide to stay home.
But we have to keep Congress…and, as smart and clever as the American people are, they will rise to the occasion. We did it 80 years ago
This is the kind of rhetoric you don’t mind laying on the plebs.
Contempt drips from every word.
Just heard was the case of the football coach praying before and after the games on school district property. The district did not prevent him from privately praying on district property in fact offered him a space which he refused and continued to pray before and after games. At least one student -likely more-was a non christian who felt compelled to join the prayer session. The coach was not rehired. This was not a full time job for him. He did not teach just coached. My understanding is that he worked in the shipyards in Bremerton.
They’ll switch to GP offices and hospitals that they will claim are ‘facilitating’ abortions by providing medical care to women with miscarriages (which they’ll imply are due to illegal self-administered abortions).
If you think that’s crazy, let me remind you that there is no bottom to the current conservative movement.
“In interpreting what is meant by the Fourteenth Amendment’s reference to ‘liberty,’ we must guard against that natural human tendency to confuse what that Amendment protects with our own ardent views about the liberty that Americans should enjoy.”
Perhaps I’m misreading, but “confusing what the Amendment protects with our own views about the liberty Americans should–or should not–enjoy” is precisely what he’s doing, right? Another instance of him rubbing it in?
Give me some men who are small minded men who will fight for the right to be boors.”
Sorry. I have big free-association energy today.
The sheer meanness of the gloating is the hubris that presages a fall
… the right wing strident zealotry is palpable - if Alito were to author a ruling on same-sex marriage it would - like this opinion on Roe- be infused with his unhinged homophobic animosity - he would aim for an immediate ban & cancellation of all existing same sex unions.
He is so ideologically driven that he would not be capable of tolerating an outcome that would halt future same-sex marriages - but provide grandfathering of existing ones - no, that would fry his brain - formally allowing the existing ones to continue would mean being party to tolerating an unholy abomination - he will settle for nothing less than immediate eradication ! …
It’s been my life for going on 65 years.
O I like it. No need to be sorry - I thought it was well done.
40 years in the wilderness works for me
This is just one small unelected man, with power over millions, in office until he dies or decides to retire. There are Saudi princes with less power.
They’ll just start trying to ban birth control. It’s not about precious fetuses, it’s always been about control over women and keeping them poor and ill-placed for work advancement.
