Omg. The sensationalism of this headline is breathtaking.
A computer system, with unlimited processing power, instructed to find some data will do what it can to accomplish that goal, including trying random things that might work. Tests conducted in a poorly constructed security perimeter with non-existant or after the fact human escalation and review will do likely some things you wish they hadn’t.
This is not new to AI. The humans running these test are fools and the reporters writing about it like this are fanning the flame.
