Don't Fall for the Bogus Claims That the Feds Are Probing the Pretti Shooting

But wasn’t that the founders’ point? That short terms would make the members of the House more responsive (than senators) to their constituents’ current views and feelings? (Like the plebeian assembly.) The main problem today is that campaign financing leaves House members more responsive to their donors than to their constituents. Also, modern communications make two years fly by faster.

I meant it as constructive criticism. Take it to heart. Use it to improve. You post a lot of good, useful commentary. Ad hominem attacks are unnecessary and counter-productive when trying to win over minds.

I haven’t posted an ad hom attack—that’s what you posted to me.

Sorry you couldn’t get the sound working. I can’t help you as I’m a caricature of a person with enough wits to survive in this veil of tears for 75 years but an absolute buffoon in any technical matters.

I’m attaching it again in the hope that after we both reboot our devices it works for all.

You must admit though, she has perfected the cum-hither look…

Heh like it’s 5AM and time to take my morning pain meds (being disabled is not fun)
Sleep another hour… the early morning flys by..
But you are right … two years is a short term

At this point mockery is a very effective weapon. A morale booster for dems (needed) and “bitter waters” for repubs/ICE/CBP/ trump & minions

I turn to my soon-to-be 17 yr old grandson for technical advice. At 77 yrs of age the internet era is in large part beyond any capability of mine. Besides… I was into endocrinology/biochem and not computers.

This time it worked! Thank you for reposting – well worth hearing. In light of some exchanges in these comments lately, I was particularly struck by the part where all three chimed in on the importance of building coalitions.

Has your back surgery brought you at least some relief?

Sadly none so far. Had a follow up appt with that surgeon on Tuesday. He is suggesting more extensive surgery. I will see a different surgeon in February. The surgeons know each other so no disrespect to anyone. I’ll go from there. Basic problem is severe scoliosis from childhood polio. Bottom 3 vertibrae are bent and arguing with my sciatic nerve. I can deal with the bone pain. It’s the nerve squash that needs fixing.

If they would just shut down ICE and BP, that would take care of SO much of the this harassment and murder.

So sorry. You are a dear who does not deserve that pain.

Maybe. More likely Springstein and Dylan’s brains had already been working on ideas – lyrics, music – in an unconscious or only semiconscious way. A poet friend worked that way. (She’s dead now.) Months, sometimes a year or two, of committing nothing to paper and then, wham, poems rolled down like a mighty stream. Then came some editing within poems, doing the final arranging of the poems into a collection, sharing drafts with a few friends whose judgement she trusted – and some final editing.

Judge In Philly Slavery Exhibit Lawsuit Blasts DOJ

January 30, 2026 Racism, Trump Administration

The Associated Press reports:

A federal judge warned Justice Department lawyers on Friday that they were making “dangerous” and “horrifying” statements when they said the Trump Administration can decide what part of American history to display at National Park Service sites.

The sharp exchange erupted during a hearing in Philadelphia over the abrupt removal of an exhibit on the history of slavery at the site of the former President’s House on Independence Mall. “You can’t erase history once you’ve learned it. It doesn’t work that way,” said Senior U.S. District Judge Cynthia Rufe, an appointee of President George W. Bush.

Rufe said she planned to rule quickly, noting the surge of visitors expected to visit the nation’s birthplace this year to mark its 250th anniversary of being founded. Residents who have visited the site have shed tears, left flowers and left a handmade sign that said “Slavery was real.”
