This is bizarre – that Barr would do this just shows he has reached Graham levels of obsequiousness.
And I have a feeling Barrett is just Barr in barrettes.

Please don’t, Clorox Eye Bleach is still in short supply.
Here’s what I find utterly bizarre: NDAs aren’t legal for government workers doing the People’s work. So arguably this NDA is only valid as a private matter. But the DOJ doesn’t sue for private matters no matter who is involved, only governmental matters.
And yet…
They make an argument trying to bootstrap the FLOTUS into being an official of the government. Ok fine, then the NDA is invalid.
And yet…
I actually would love for the judge to decide that the case can’t proceed because the federal government does not have standing.
I really don’t care. Do U?
What I find somewhat amusing is that Mel and Don just thought that Stephanie Winston Wolkoff would just take the fall for their illegal enterprise. Where they made their mistake is that SWW is a professional events planner, she’s got her binders full of receipts. This wasn’t just some fawning wannabe.
We absolutely should consider impeachments after they have left office. A conviction doesn’t merely result in a removal from office but it can also prevent the official from ever holding office again.
We need to run a full scale audit of the administration and a report with actionable findings needs to be produced. Create a whole independent task force running in the background. Who willfully violated the constitution and their oath? Impeach them. Who broke the law? Prosecute them.
It’s not even about retribution as much as it’s laying down consequences and precedent for bad faith actors.
Yeah. I agree.
Speaking of a weaponized DOJ suing “nasty” women, if E. Jean Carroll ever gets that DNA swab from Trump she’s entitled to, I wonder if she could also do a coronavirus antibody test on it. For science.
The trumps are the wrong folks to be anywhere near.
It’s sort of like we’ve stress tested out government, and now we need to do after action review. This time it won’t be we have to move past this, there’s too much greed and corruption to sweep this all under the rug.
I think you forgot the air quotes around ‘elegant’.
The DOJ is Trump’s private Law firm and the SCOTUS his private court.
And they’re engaging in barratry.
Right now I can’t argue with that at all.
These people have destroyed the thing they are sworn to uphold.
Impeachment can only result in removal from office. Nothing more. So if someone is already out of office what’s the point? See the Constitution, article 1, section 3, last paragraph in that section for the penalty.
I think you mean indictments.
edit
And trump was impeached and “tried” in the Senate which was a charade because McConnell did not allow any evidence to be presented nor any testimony from anyone.
What’s the point of impeaching them when they have already, if you want a verb ending in “ching” the one starting with “Lyn” will be the most adecuate for these bastards.
come on she has nice hair.
I wonder what their hourly bill is… not that trump would ever pay such a bill.
Of course not, it’s paid by the taxpayers, of which Trump has not been one them in quite a long time if ever.
