Ya think? Ballsy move, Merrick! Are you sure TFG and his associated criminals got what they needed out of them, over the past 14 months? Merrick, are you sure that some brainwashed TFGer couldn’t perceive this as political?

This sort of heroism deserves its own TV police drama, so that the federal LEOs get the worship that they so rightly deserve!

They are set to probe those boxes?

When did they receive them and what the hell have they been doing with them in the interim?

You were hoping Matt Gaetz would probe them?

Naw…they’re old documents.

This is a pretty open and shut case, the boxes ended up there. This does happen, people sometimes take a few documents or items by mistake when leaving office, but it’s rare that there are classified documents in there. They do need to get to the bottom of how it happened, and who packed the stuff in the boxes and who directed that, as well as what exactly was packed up…if it turns out it’s evidence of the planning of a coup, for example, then that’s a big deal.

I wouldn’t expect a huge prosecution or jail time out of this though, simply because proving intent to use the classified information will be difficult. Fines are about what I’d expect, unless this really was a planned thing for nefarious purposes…they will need to break one of the people involved to get that kind of testimony though.

Do we have any confidence that there are no other boxes at Mar-a-Lago? Perhaps illegal copies of materials that have been returned? I think DOJ could be justified to conduct a 5 am raid.

So how much does the Library of Congress charge per day for overdue books/papers/documents?

With a no knock warrant perhaps?

“Other lingering questions include whether” and what else Trump took that wasn’t his.

The rules don’t apply to Trump. That’s why he got elected. Many people simply don’t think laws and rules are important. Bad civics.

Remember, he said he could shoot someone in Times Square and get away with it. Taking classified documents is pette ante stuff compared to that.

(Of course, had Hilary or Bill Clinton done this, it would be a whole other matter.)

Speaking of The Gaetz…

A slap on one of TFG aides’ hand. (Of course not HIS – he hires people to take his licks for him.)

And, the materials belong to the National Archives (us), not to the Library of Congress.

What I would like to see is yellow police tape cordoning off the entire Mal a Lardo property to let LE take their time in going through the entire property looking for pictures, photos, sculptures, papers, books, and all the minutae that rightfully belongs to We The People. Might take up to the “end of the season.” oh, so sad…

So let’s put Mo Brooks and Trumpy under oath and see which one is lying.

The boxes went back to the National Archives, not the FBI. The FBI apparently did not open up an immediate investigation into the pilfering of the boxes.

Which strongly implies that the Archives found evidence of a crime that’s more serious than simple mishandling of presidential documents.

Obstruction of justice, anybody?

  1. Yes I know, but the joke works better when using a library
  2. And you and I both know Trump wouldn’t know which piece(s) of paper to pack and take with him. So someone had a purpose for them, we now need to know who.
