DOJ Quotes GA Republicans’ Own Words Against Them To Challenge Voting Law | Talking Points Memo

The. GOPers are going to regret their fake claims of massive voter fraud!

Its funny how GOPers talk about voter fraud and NEVER mention that GOPers are committing voter fraud.

That slimy dude down in NC who committed voter fraud, a nan killed his wife and ordered her absentee ballot and voted fir Trump, another man filled out an absentee ballot for his deceased mother. Seems to me, this is the voter fraud the GOPers should be concerned about!

The extended quote is awesome and all the more so for having been in Parliamentary debate:

Conservatives are not necessarily stupid, but most stupid people are conservatives…
I never meant to say that the Conservatives are generally stupid. I meant to say that stupid people are generally Conservative. I believe that is so obviously and universally admitted a principle that I hardly think any gentleman will deny it. Suppose any party, in addition to whatever share it may possess of the ability of the community, has nearly the whole of its stupidity, that party must, by the law of its constitution, be the stupidest party; and I do not see why honorable gentlemen should see that position as at all offensive to them, for it ensures their being always an extremely powerful party . . . There is so much dense, solid force in sheer stupidity, that any body of able men with that force pressing behind them may ensure victory in many a struggle, and many a victory the Conservative party has gained through that power."

As a non inbred and reasonably educated hillbilly, I find “ignorant yokel” a better term of abuse…

…and a hit dog hollers:
Via press release from GOP Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp:

This lawsuit is born out of the lies and misinformation the Biden administration has pushed against Georgia’s Election Integrity Act from the start.

Joe Biden, Stacey Abrams, and their allies tried to force an unconstitutional elections power grab through Congress – and failed.

Now, they are weaponizing the U.S. Department of Justice to carry out their far-left agenda that undermines election integrity and empowers federal government overreach in our democracy.

As Secretary of State, I fought the Obama Justice Department twice to protect the security of our elections – and won. I look forward to going three for three to ensure it’s easy to vote and hard to cheat in Georgia

Peggy Noonan’s classic formulation was

“Is it irresponsible to speculate? It’s irresponsible not to!”

This was her way of airing a claim that Fidel Castro was blackmailing B. Clinton, to explain the return to Elian Gonzales to Cuba.
Utter malicious fiction.

see Fidel Blackmail Clinton? Er, How?

“now threatened by him to be corrupt themselves.”

No worries they’ve long been that corrupt - from the lame duck laws to hobble the attorney general and gov to the voter suppression laws (which Evers will veto) to the current “audit” to be done by retired police officers…they’ve got this

How much of it is now self-preservation?

He didn’t do what they wanted before and got death threats for him and his family. Compliance is probably saving his life from these thugs.

They certainly appear to be terrified at what Stacy can accomplish.

Just another scary, angry, black woman, right???

…the changes not only disproportionately impacted Black voters, but also that this outcome was the intent of Georgia legislators.

It was their intent. They said it. They knew. Everybody knows it. It’s not any kind of secret, any kind of debate.

Republicans discriminate against people — including children — based on arbitrary characteristics.

“Neutral on its face” (which, incidentally, it isn’t) doesn’t preclude its underlying racist intent. Our courts are designed, through a trial, to examine the evidence, hold the facts up to the law and decide whether it is a violation and how it should be remedied.

The Senate has confirmed more of President Biden’s nominees for the district and circuit court posts than any president in their first six months since Richard Nixon.

Because Mitch killed the filibuster?   : - )

I keep hearing “X policy (e.g. the War on Drugs, Voter ID, Stop ‘n Frisk) isn’t racist!!”
If its net effect disproportionately affects minorities then, and it’s demonstrated in its execution, and widely known, and not ameliorated, it’s absolutely racist.

Trump has so much criming to answer for, it’s like looking for a Sherman Tank in a telephone booth.

My brother would say about Trump:

He a thug, bro!

Use that knowledge
