The Justice Department’s internal investigator said Tuesday that he would look into why the FBI’s long-planned relocation to the D.C. suburbs was canned in favor of demolishing and rebuilding at the bureau’s current site, down the street from the Trump International Hotel.
Of course they changed their plans… It would have hurt the profits at the tRump hotel next door if it was commercially developed. I am reasonably certain that McCabe, Stzrok, and Page where the principal investors
The OIG of the General Services Administration, which is essentially the government’s landlord, found in an August 2018 report that Trump was involved in discussions with FBI and GSA leaders about the relocation plans, and in addition that GSA Administrator Emily Murphy’s congressional testimony on the matter “was incomplete and may have left the misleading impression that she had no discussions with White House officials in the decision-making process about the project.”
Seems that Emily lied to Congress. Big deal. Everyone does it these days.
Public corruption fatigue is a thing, and this latest bullet point, which isn’t even a new one, may be the tipping point beyond how many fucks I have to give for the week.
FBI has already planned a new building away from downtown. The FBI has three possible locations in mind. The current building has netting on the skin to prevent pieces falling to the sidewalk.
This whole thing just reeks of obvious corruption. Like everything else in Trumplandia
I don’t like or trust Horowitz. To me, anything voluntarily investigated under this administration suggests two things: (1) something very unethical and/or illegal happened and (2) they want to paper it over and have an “investigation” to produce a report that clears Trump of anything.
How many more incidents of corrupt and possibly criminal malfeasance committed by this lousy excuse for a president do we have to endure before Nancy Pelosi and her caucus initiate impeachment inquiries into Trump?
The first thing that came to mind, months ago, when this story first saw the light-of-day was: TRumPP has instructions to keep the FBI as frequent visitors to the Trump Hotel where they can be easily be watched and recorded.
Then, it became clear the he has absolute power over the agency and now I think he is probably just giving Putin his presidential password (Password123) to the FBI server because he is too lazy to make the effort to actively transfer intelligence. Pompeo is doing this too, BTW. He only visits in person when the recipient is too savvy to allow an electronic paper trail.
Hey, it is a good and plausible a theory as any! All of my years of re-watching Poirot and Miss Marple are really paying off with this Administration…

Would that be the same GSA that allowed the Trump International Hotel to maintain its lease on the Old Post Office building even after Trump became president, the same GSA that ignored the Emoluments Clause in the Constitution to reach the desired conclusion? If being a party to a written lease is legit then the GSA will have no problem with Trump merely being involved in discussions. After all, it’s not like he met anybody on the tarmac.
@sniffit Yup, time for the official rubber stamp of “Nothing to see here.”
Good; keep up all the investigations. This administration* stinks to high heaven and it’s long past time someone is held to account. Drain the swamp? More like make it deeper and smellier.
I’ll vote for keeping the FBI HQ downtown because we need to preserve downtown areas. Doesn’t having FBI agents downtown make it safer? Moving agencies to the suburbs makes for more sprawl, etc. Put all the federal agencies inside the city limits.
