I’m going to open the champagne when Fucking Merrick Garland gets arrested. He had the power to prevent this, but his delays and fecklessness did the country in. Maybe put a huge chunk of the 5,000 Feds that are getting fired for investigating J6 to work on nailing TSF’s hide to the wall in a timely manner for stealing TS documents might have been a good idea? I agree that the electorate is ultimately to blame. But Garland was too old school to get the job done. And of course the SCOTUS threw a monkey wrench in everything by their slow walked immunity ruling. Lots of blame to go around

Just consider the scope of what Garland flubbed. An insurrection. The theft of a massive trove of classified documents. Obstruction on a grand scale. If he was too fucking dumb to see that he did not act boldly and quickly Trump would wash it all away he should have, given that gravity of it all, resigned and allowed a backbone to take his place.

I definitely agree that he mishandled the whole thing, he was out of his league. But I also agree that ultimately it was the electorate who are to blame. Jack Smith had a rock solid case ready to go and then poof it was gone. This is what a majority of those who voted said they wanted

I have encountered many billionaires in my career. You all have seen many of those encounters, in hearings, in other forms of questioning, etc.
I can tell you that this dude is probably one of the most unintelligent billionaires I have ever met, which you can probably glean from watching on TV.
The danger is not just in the lack of intelligence that Elon has — this guy is one of the most morally vacant, and least knowledgeable about these systems.
We already saw that last week when they were like, “Oh yeah we’re gonna freeze everything! That sounds so cool, let’s do that!” And then Medicaid portals across the United States got suspended.
So what they’re trying to do, under the guise of “waste,” is gut some of the most essential federal programs that we’ve got.
What they are not going to include in their government waste assessments (take a big guess!) is defense spending. I sat on the Oversight Committee y’all. I have seen defense contractors price gouge and loot the public in such inordinate ways.
Elon Musk gets his money from defense. The Pentagon has yet to pass an audit, but they want you to think that it’s the viejitawho’s getting her insulin paid for by Medicaid that is the “waste.”

AOC is right of course - the two biggest wastes of taxpayer money and the two biggest drivers of the deficit are defense spending - now approaching $900B a year, and the “tax expenditures” (i.e. write-offs and loopholes) and the non-compliance of the tax code by the wealthy. Close both of these down and you could easily see a $1.5-2T reduction in the deficit in a year, (primarily from the increase in revenues.)
I think the Democrats really need to have a “Come to Jesus” talk with the ReThugs on the illegal and traitorous actions of the first felon POTUS in US history AND be prepared to put a BIG hole in the bottom of the boat if these actions continue. The baseline is the very successful Obama and Biden Administrations, and the actions they took to close the deficit while reversing the unfair and unsustainable wealth, income and standard of living distributions we have all been subject to since the unfortunate election of Reagan in 1980. We are NOT going back to 1929, or the McKinley Administration of the 19th Century. We do not need to repeat the overseas safaris of Shrub Bush by starting new WARS in Gaza, Greenland or Panama. We do NOT need to abandon law and order or due process because Trump put three corrupt justices on the SCOTUS. All this silly bullshit needs to stop NOW, by whatever means is required.
How and why put a hole in the bottom of the boat ? The why first - if Trump and his moron minions are bailing out the water, they can’t do as much stupid stuff. (See COVID-19 pandemic, Circa 2020. It handcuffed Trump then and a financial crisis in 2025 can do it again.)
How ? 1) Do NOT enable the Administration to continue on the current track by forcing a Federal shutdown followed by a potential credit default. This will force the government to work back to a manageable status quo, without which NOTHING happens, because no one gets paid otherwise. Force the Trump moron minions to negotiate on terms the Democrats can live with. 2) Blame the whole thing on the stupidity of Elon and the corruption of the ReThug politicians. This should be obvious, but the Democrats need to get a lot more aggressive on their messaging to the public. The ReThugs can’t be seen as jolly good fellows who got a little off track - they need to be seen as traitors and enemies of the middle class and the poor among us.
And, 3) Actively encourage civil disobedience in a number of ways including a General Strike and disruption of transportation, financial centers and civil centers - impair the operations of the ReThug Congress and the red state governments, while supporting blue state governmental efforts to maintain liberal democratic civic life, at least in all the economic sectors that matter.
You can’t stop tyranny without a Revolution. The acceptable Revolutions are non-violent, but the public outrage needs to be expressed in a way that is so overwhelming that even Trump backs down over fear of what the collective rage might visit on him next. Obviously the half-hearted measures of the last four years weren’t nearly enough to put the fear of God in his puny black heart. The J6 Insurrection was, maybe, 20,000 moron losers with sticks. The Democratic Revolution needs to be 20+ million righteous citizens with the means to re-order this “I got mine” society and the collective will to do so.
