As with Bloomberg, Biden and others I’d need to hold my nose to pull the lever for Michelle. I like her and all that but not as presidential material. On the other hand, she would more than likely do a better job than her husband.
I’ll go with the idea that it’s a bit of both.
Yes, the Russian and Macedonian trolls will have something to play with, but so will the American ones.

I know Matt Taibbi isn’t a lot of folks cup of tea, but he made a very good point recently. The problem with Fox is that they discovered their true mission statement after establishing their business model. If they were to start over, the network and product would look very different. There would be no need for the veneer of being a news organization. Frankly, for them it’s an expensive distraction from their money making programming.
But they came into business at a time when the thinking was that they had to be seen as a legitimate, fair and balanced news organization to function properly as a right wing propaganda machine. They now know that their audience isn’t interested in fair and balanced news (or the appearance of fair and balanced news). Just give them talking heads being mean to Democrats and telling them their beliefs and way of life are “real America.”
People like Hemmer are just vestiges of an outmoded way of doing things that might be completely gone from Fox in 5 or 10 years.

Anytime a Democrat or non Trump Republican appears on Fox they should interject with questions like those posed by Mr. Blake. Throw it back at them.
“Why do you have people like Carlson on who are antithetical to the nations interests?”
“Why is Hannity the host of his own show when he weaves conspiracy and while he might be subject of a criminal investigation?” “Does Laura Ingraham hate the troops?”
“Roger Ailes and O’Reilly had to pay out millions in sexual assault lawsuits. Discuss”
“Is is safe for employees children on take your daughter to work day?”

I’ve met Mr. Blake before when he was campaigning for the Public advocate position.
He was quite affable. Little did I think that he would have the stones to go on Fox and call them out.

I cannot understand folks who go on Fox and expect a reasonable discussion, but Blake almost nailed it.
He should have also asked why Tucker hates immigrants and Ukrainians, and loves Russians.
“Why do I care … what is going on in the conflict between Ukraine and Russia?” Carlson said. “And I’m serious. Why do I care? Why shouldn’t I root for Russia, which I am?”
But I guess some of the timelines are simultaneous…

I think they’ll continue to be “Fox News” for some time to come because its viewers still assume they’re watching an actual news network. That kernel of legitimacy (along with actual news reporting, the trick is knowing which stories to amplify and which to bury) gives the whole thing, including the bullshit, credibility, especially because they can conflate the two easily as they go.
For the same reason churches exist: to keep people stupid while the ruling classes keep them poor.

I’d say landslide at this point.
I think Tucker Carlson may have accidentally spoke the truth and the feelings of a lot of pro-Trump Conservatives when he said “he was on Russia’s side. Because the fact is for America to survive and prosper it must become the the exact thing they hate. A more open, equitable, tolerant society with an end to all the political corruption that keeps them in power. They would rather see America fail then have that happen.
