“I loved beating her, she was easy.”

The words we choose reflect our character. I would have said, “I knew I would win, she was out of her league.” Still an insult, but it removes the brutality and misogyny. One sure thing about Trump, what you hear is what you get.

You are correct, Eustace. Excuse me while I write a sternumly worded letter so I can get my disapprobation over this issue off my chest. I can take a ribbing as well as any man, but this has has gone too far. These are just the tips of the icebergs. Our fate as a nation is nip-and-tuck. We are a world laughingstock in both hemispheres.

However, I would warn that creating too toxic a primary could result in no one wanting to vote for the Republicans. This is a very problematic situation that the GOP that the Democratic Party doesn’t have to deal with. Whoever the Democratic nominee is will have something of an advantage going into the phase where the most people pay attention to the race because there will not be the same level of fatigue that everyone will have with the Republicans. In some ways, I’m seeing much of the same structure to the 2016 race as I saw in 2008 and 2012. I’m seeing a glut of Republicans vying for the nomination and only a handful of Democrats. The press focusing on the Republicans due to their outrageous comments and largely ignoring the Democrats. A Democratic race which is supposedly assured but could be in flux. The Democrats polling more favorably than the Republicans. And so on.

I suspect that, with Citizens United taking the lid off the donors, the Republicans are going to have a long and bloody race and by the time the dust settles and they get behind a single candidate the way they did with McCain and Romney, it will be too late. Democrats are willing to get behind pretty much any of the candidates, as far as I’ve seen, though the money is on Clinton. I think, ultimately, she’ll draw in most of the Sanders supporters and vice versa. However, the GOP is so fractured at this point and the primary is going to get so poisonous that I suspect that one candidate’s supporters are not necessarily going to support another candidate.

You are right, though, I don’t think anyone has any idea who is going to get the nomination…and we probably won’t until the night of the convention or about a month ahead of the convention.

Um, no. There hasn’t been a convention nominee decided close to that late in the game since Mondale in '84. The GOP will have this settled well ahead of their convention. Book it.

I believe I also said “a month ahead”.

Thing is, as someone pointed out, so long as the money flows, a less than ideal candidate can continue to go well beyond the point of no return.

The downside, however, to the GOP getting the majority of the coverage is they also get a boost in the national polling because of that. Its sort of like having a really smartly written, directed and acted TV show running at the same time slot as American Idol. Doesn’t matter how good it is, if the majority of the people are tuning in to American Idol.

You are correct however, that the GOP is deeply fractured, and more importantly, there are no clear leaders for any of the factions, let alone the party at large. That’s part of why there are so many candidates…they aren’t all necessarily running to get the nomination, they are running to be recognized as the leader of a particular faction (Cruz for the TP, for instance).

That’s why the Kochs for instance, are betting heavily on Walker. They see him as having the broadest appeal across the GOP spectrum of any of the candidates. (plus he has shown himself to be extremely mallable to their demands).

And also why the RNC is really sweating the Trump show. Trump is not someone that will make rallying around the winner easy…either if he wins or if he loses. He is firing up the wrong emotions from the RNC perspective…and they desperately want to have a rally around the leader moment sooner than later.

“I loved beating her, she was easy.”

Very sloppy reporting. This line was actually lifted from the divorce deposition with Ivana.

Donald Trump says arguably inane and unsuportable things on a 24/7/365 basis, and generally acts like a complete boorish clown while running for president. Mainstream media is shocked and indignant and devotes much video and many column inches at the “revelation” he’s always been this way.

Treadstone, Blackbriar, Outcome or Larx?

Of course not. Just as with Scott Walker destroying Wisconsin’s environment and education system, this kind of thing is precisely why his supporters like him. That’s part of the problem with running against people like this, with an electorate like this - opposition strategists still think that exposing their crazy, destructive behavior/policies with sink them, when it does nothing of the sort and may even make them stronger.

Throwing bones.

And you wonder why the GOP has a problem with women. Not only is Trump a pompous loud mouth ass you can now add neanderthal to the list of adjectives describing him.

Scott Walker: “My fellow citizens, this new sewage plant is a complete waste of taxpayer money!! You all can just keep trotting to the outhouse every morning and evening!”

Voters: “Why thank you Mr. Walker, we citizens would bleed the state treasury dry if not for your divine guidance!”

Not during the primary, when the polling is of Republicans only.

I haven’t seen any Trump vs. Hilary polls yet. Maybe I missed some, but the pollsters will have to do some, given his big lead in the GOP field.

I think Trump will have his biggest tantrum yet when he finds out that he can’t nominate himself as his running mate.

Very fine points, sir. I suspect some will milk this for all it’s worth, but they are really making mountains out of molehills.
