Indeed, the team, NFL, and fans don’t seem to care at all, just like the handling of the name of the Washington franchise. But you left out the important one: the owners in fact didn’t care either as long as they think they’re getting away with it.
It is the owners’ outrage that’s fake. If it was genuine the rule would be simple: you get arrested, you don’t play until the case is resolved, and then a decision will be made as to reinstatement. But they’d have it the other way around, because, money.
However, in both cases, society cares, and it’s damn well society’s business to care.

It depends on whether they figured the public would see it eventually. The police and DA work on behalf of the billionaires.
Now, I was told by another poster that first time offenders are often diverted to a program and that may well be the case, but the justice system’s role in this particular case seemed hushed up, until the shit hit the fan, that is. If memory serves, we didn’t find out what the DA did until we started asking questions after the video came out.
I knew this - didn’t we all know this?

It’s the cover up that always gets 'em. They knew, attempted to keep it under wraps and are lying their asses off, including Goodell.
Fake outrage would be more like feigning anger at your posts that are designed to incite an angry response.
Giving you back exactly what you give is the proper response.
As far as the owner(s) go, they are faking a woman friendly campaign at this moment and this wouldn’t really help would it? Not to mention losing their pro bowl running back, that also inspired their lies.
Always best to wait for the details and not to believe the people with the biggest money motivation.
