Totally unrelated to yesterday’s anti-Kavanaugh protest at Yale, I’m sure.
This goes nowhere.
Yale is one of the highly selective schools that has an extensive application that goes well beyond grades and scores. Schools like Yale also seek diversification across multiple factors, including such categories as: geographical distribution; economic status; size of high school; percent of high school graduating class that typically goes on to a four-year university; degrees earned by parents; type of extracurricular activities; and so on.
Scarcity has value to Yale and the other schools cited in the complaint from the Asian American Coalition for Education. Give Yale an applicant pool that is only 5% Asian, and the school’s admission process will create an admit pool that is well over 5% Asian.
What the heck? Is this some trick to get a look at some records? Timing seems odd.
These Trump lawsuits are totally bogus, and a continuation of the Trump admin attacks on non-whites. Lawsuits were initiated by a white Republican trying to undermine any form of diversity or affirmative action.
SFFA founder Edward Blum — a frustrated Republican congressional candidate who has chosen to make a career out of waging war on laws and policies that give “special privileges” to minorities.
Besides the ridiculous assertion that Asians are being discriminated against (asians make up 6% of US population). Asian American student body at:
Harvard: 22%
Princeton: 22%
Yale: 19%
Dartmouth: 21%
So, Asians are admitted at 3-4x the rate of their representative population. Where is the discrimination?
I agree the acceptance policy is ridiculous (such as families of alumni get special treatment, which is discrimination IMO), and based on individual acceptance officer bias, especially at Ivy League schools, but these lawsuits are invalid, and may undermine minority acceptance overall.

(full disclosure: I am of a half asian family)
This is the same guy who wanted a federal investigation of Amazon’s sales-tax practices because of the Washington Post.
What fascinates me is the educated wingnuts’ implicit assumption that a completely “colorblind”, legacy-blind admission process at selective schools would increase the number of WASPs admitted.
