You won’t get one of those ol’boys to part with their mineral rights for that, tho. You’ll only get the first inch of dirt.

Didn’t Trump have also have two Cyprus-based firms, Trump Construction and Trump International Investments? What happened to them?

While I was looking for updates of that story, I ran across a couple of relevant articles I’d missed when published…

What is it with the Trumpie’s ‘not taking a salary’. They seem to think that cancels out any financial impropriety.

There are two questions which we must concern ourselves with.

What did the president know and when did he stop knowing it?

The special counsel and congressional committees investigating Russian interference in the 2016 election are looking into possible money laundering by President Donald Trump’s former campaign chair Paul Manafort, the Wall Street Journal reported late Thursday.

Trump might have to “fire” Congress, too!

This entire exercise is about a lot more than political ambitions or the terrible Russian orphan crisis that no Russian wants to talk about.

We can’t fully understand the threat we face, until we understand the technical machinery and money involved.

I hope y’all are watching Rachel - she’s laying out a RICO case from 2011 that was filed in New York by Ukraine over some money made in Russia on this gas scheme with Ukraine that was sent to the US to be cleaned in New York real estate deals.

And the origin of the money had to be disguised because it was going to be shoveled back into Ukraine to fund pro Putin politicians.

Sound familiar?

“…looking into whether any of President Donald Trump’s businesses have financial ties to Russian interests.”

The sentence needs a bit of re-working, how about—whether Russian interests are financially tied up in Trump’s debt portfolio and whether those interests are leveraged in a way to promote his pro-Russian/Putin attitude and leniency regarding current US sanctions against Russia. This finding would be the ultimate Russian doll inside a succession of hollow ones.

Oh yes, I’m watching.

ETA: Manafort signed a contract for $10MM a year and ends up $17MM in debt? Am I following this? These guys really live high on the hog. Was ANY of this real money?

SHIT HITTING FAN. Breaking news (from WaPo) on Rachel Maddow. Looks like donnie is prepping for the worst, including that his attorneys are looking into his ability to pardon aides, family members, and himself.

If he borrowed a whole bunch of money so that he could put it elsewhere – possibly in cash – this would make perfect sense. Two different ways of moving money out of a country that’s not considered hospitable.

@paulw To your response: Indeed!

Republicans in Congress - do you even still give a shit about the country? Prove it, fuckers. This guy has got to go now!

The Post waits until near the end of the story to point out that Mueller’s charter includes

as well as “any matters that arose or may arise directly from the investigation” and any crimes committed in response to the investigation, such as perjury or obstruction of justice.

Makes the complaints about going past his charter look kinda questionable.
