Discussion: WSJ: Late GOP Operative On Hunt For Clinton Emails Raised At Least $100K

Possibly

Even though one con man got over bigly, dude stole $100k from people looking for results.

It’s good to know that they got one.

Ah. Did not know that part.

The seamy side of life - being a “republican” operative.

Good grief.

He didn’t get any Clinton emails. Now, an IC might have em, but they aren’t worth anything…

The zombie republican party got plenty of something out of nothing, however.

Christopher Wray is now on my radar.

If he has a case I don’t see why he doesn’t do it now.

Because he’s not going to arrest people until he has built a rock-solid case.

The Justice and his buddies are exhibits A-E why the drinking age had to be raised. Time for a distraction.

I think that this investigation is doomed especially now that he has a loyal ally in SC. We will never know anything and maybe eventually some time down the road someone will find the reports and publish a book. In the meantime the orange will pretty much dismantle the country and reign as Mussolini did, maybe a lot longer. Sounds fatalistic, it is. I don’t think that the blue wave will be that big, if there is one, and with the senate in the R hands they will continue to fill all judicial openings so that branch will remain R for eternity. The carnival barker and his enablers planned this well, dare I say, very well. They studied their history even if the orange didn’t. I feel just as bad as I felt in Nov 2016.

…or maybe he just bet on a bad horse and lost? Too many assumptions. And what’s a ‘republican operative’?

I frequently feel that way myself. I don’t want to give you some kind of darkest before the dawn cliché - but the political winds always have a way of blowing the opposite direction. What the democratic party lacks is a leader who hits all the marks and exemplifies the values as well as the frustrations many people feel. That person will emerge.

Were they adopted Russian students?

Yes. In a subsequent interview shortly after Mr. Smith’s demise, that same WSJ reporter said he detected no sense that Smith wasn’t in good spirits, nor did he give any indication whatsoever he was in ill health. That was like 11 days before Smith died.

Mr. Smith did not die of his own hand, I don’t believe. But she had nothing to do with it.

Maybe this was just an accident. When I was in grad school, we used to throw helium parties. The way it worked was, we’d rent a cylinder of helium from a party store, and inflate big garbage bags with helium, tied off at the bottom with a straw sticking out. The garbage bags would float around the house where the party was; you’d grab one and take a hit from a straw . The straws were actually made up of several straws stuck together end to end, to make a straw large enough to reach to the top of the inflated garbage bag, so you could get every last bit of helium out.

Anyhow, I remember this one guy who didn’t want to suck on the straw, and instead just stuck a bag of helium over his head, and started singing Procol Harem’s “Whiter Shade of Pale” from inside the bag in a hilarious “Alvin the Chipmunk” voice. If I hadn’t spotted him and ripped the bag off of his head, he probably would have gone the same way.

But if it was suicide, and the guy was catholic (which he probably was because so many of these right wing nut jobs are), can you imagine being a fly on the wall hearing him recite “Hail Mary” in that same “Alvin” voice as consciousness slipped away …
