If I was a Republican, I would be salivating at a Biden candidacy.
I’ll leave it at that and not elaborate anymore.
I don’t claim to be an expert on foreign affairs. Not at all. But my sense of things is that our allies are pissed off, and for good reason. Their anger isn’t just directed at Trump, either. I think they are pissed at the American people who elected him.
I know many of them are smart enough to realize that Clinton won the majority of votes, but this has been a very ugly wake up call to the rest of the world. I think they are wanting, maybe even expecting, America to see the error of our ways and to put the world stage first. Our allies have been humiliated by this President, they want America to right this ship, and being seen as an afterthought (with picking a good Vice Pres. or Sec. of State, who understands foreign policy very well), isn’t going to be acceptable.
Maybe I’m wrong.
Since his only qualification is his international standing, wouldn’t it make more sense to have him as Secretary of State, rather than as president? His domestic record is not something to be admired and in most cases would be disqualifying. He looks good only compared to the monstrosity presently ensconced in the White House.
Good. He can be the Secretary of State. After Tillerson and the religious nut, we’re definitely going to need someone with experience.
Well, there is Biden’s experience in installing his son Hunter in a cushy, well paid foreign job.
Vice President Biden routinely complained about “backsliding” over Ukraine’s fight against corruption, while at the same time, his son, Hunter, with no background in the gas industry, earned a huge salary as a consultant to gas mogul Mykola Zlochevsky’s Burisma Holdings, which is mired in allegations of corruption
He’s going to be a goldmine for negative ads.
that was true then and of course all the traitorous actions but it sure aint true now
“Amid the current field, Biden’s foreign affairs experience stands out. He has unrivaled relationships with world leaders, and has had his hand in major foreign policy decisions during the Obama administration.”
US military involvement under Obama expanded from a war on two fronts to a war on seven, with the cooperation of neighboring nations. You can’t accomplish that feat without a modest amount of diplomatic acumen.
Bunch of stone cold losers and world leaders from hell.
My point is that many of our last few Presidents were lacking in foreign policy experience and it cost us. Even Obama, who was a quick learner and did well with foreign relations, had a few missteps (at least IMO). I don’t think our allies are interested in an “America First” President. They want the next “leader of the free world” to have a clue about foreign policy and relations and therefore can actually lead the free world.
Again, I’m not discounting Biden’s flaws, I hear you, but I think allies are very interested in who we pick as President and if that President does not have much, if any, experience in international relations, our allies are not going to be impressed. They think the American people don’t care about them. They see Biden as a sincere attempt by the American people to put the world first, and as a serious attempt to address the issues that the world is facing (climate change, Putin, China, etc.).
All well and good, but this is a Politco article and this seems to be the what this report is based on.
"When Armenian President Armen Sarkissian ran into him in a hallway, a TV camera captured him asking Biden: “Are you going to run?” (Biden whispered an inaudible answer.)
And in several conversations with European leaders in Munich, Biden heard a repeated refrain, according to a conference attendee familiar with the conversations: The world needs you."
Now that, it seems to me, is not an endorsement.
It’s one of the things that makes me lean in his direction.
World Leaders Urge Biden To Run
Not orchestrated at all, especially not the endorsement from Boe Jiden of Weladare!
More seriously: Obviously Biden should run if he wants to.
All we had to choose from in 2008 was 3 Senators with roughly equal and actual foreign policy experience.
Warren-Biden 2020?
I am very glad someone remembers.
Does not mean he shouldn’t run, of course.
That was created by Faux news and the conservative entertainment complex
Kevin McCarthy:“Everybody thought Hillary Clinton was unbeatable, right? But we put together a Benghazi special committee, a select committee. What are her numbers today? Her numbers are dropping. Why? Because she’s untrustable. But no one would have known any of that had happened, had we not fought.”

If you don’t think they’ll do it to Joe …
You can’t possibly know this. You can’t project your own views as those of world leaders. I’m quite certain that their private views differ from their publicly stated ones.
Obama was an unknown for world leaders and he gained their respect. I see Biden’s experience in foreign policy as more important, because nobody else except Buttigieg has any qualifications in that area, and Buttigieg won’t get the nomination.
The work required in repairing the damage Trump has done, in every single area including the world stage, will require a huge amount of energy and hard work. Biden is too old for this. If a figurehead for foreign policy is THAT important, then Biden could be Secretary of State for as long as he’s able to hang in there.
What world leaders really want, although most won’t come out and say it, is just anyone but Trump.
“World Leaders” ?
Maybe “Leaders in the world”, but I’m skeptical if a leader of a stature as, say Merkel or Macron (or May), would be so stupid to say anything, unless it was so private, that they would deny it.
This has probably been planted by either Biden ( or the Trump camp, to sow confusion) .
Anybody but Trump would be an improvement.
Not everyone. Some still remember how he treated Anita Hill, with the lingering human stain of that episode occupying a seat on SCOTUS. And if we ignore ancient history, there was his recent gaffe calling Pence a “nice guy.” That’s a perfect indication of how out of touch Biden is with the current situation.
