Discussion for article #240061
The only people this guy should be answering to are the people who are checking out the server (FBI), and from what I have seen, he has been. What the hell does this have to do with Benghazi?
Pretty much the same thing as a blue dress did to Whitewater.
But the blue dress was actual evidence of BC lying. That ended up getting BC impeached. Iām not seeing anything here. This guy is just saying āwhy the hell should I waste my time testifying on Benghaziā.
This will just feed the Rightwing scandalmongers more meat to push their narrative: āSee, Clinton must be guilty - this guy is pleading the 5th!ā
Actual evidence of lying about a blowjob, yes, but which had absolutely zero to do with Whitewater.
Yes, they love the Constitution so much they are eager to mock one of its key provisionsāa provision put there to protect Americans against tyranny (also one of their favorite words).
If thereās no substance to any of the wild allegations about the emails, Iām curious why anybody would take the Fifth. I can understand a reluctance to waste your time testifying in front of these lunatics, but if HRC or Foggy Bottom think this refusal will help them, theyāre delusional.
Because the committee is looking hard for a scapegoat and there is no trust they wonāt try to manufacture charges or something against him out of whole cloth. I think they would wreck his career and his life just to score some political points. I think all you have to do is look at Lois Lerner to get a sample. Iām sure his attorney told him to do it. I would.
Iām no fan of the GOP or Benghazi Committee, but I donāt think you can invoke the Fifth simply because you find it inconvenient or annoying to testify. At least, you canāt invoke it in good faith. You invoke the Fifth because your testimony may tend to incriminate you.
It is not good PR for Clinton, no matter how you slice it.
The problem is, once you waive it, you waive it. You canāt put that cat back in the bag, so if his fear is he has to ātrustā all the players that there is nothing going on under the surface, his lawyer will have him take all reasonable precautions.
Here is a statement about him have nothing to do with the emails.
āIt is not clear why Mr. Pagliano is refusing to answer questions about the server. The F.B.I. is investigating how classified information was handled in connection with the account, but no evidence has surfaced that Mr. Pagliano had anything to do with those materials.ā
Obviously, he has already talked with the FBI. All republicans want to do his grill him and try to get him to say something incriminating having nothing to do with what this commission was set up to do.
Fish are often brought home from fishing trips.
Hillary wants him to testify.
āShe has made every effort to answer questions and be as helpful as possible, and has encouraged her aides, current and former, to do the same, including Bryan Pagliano.ā NBC
As to what there might be, Clinton and her staff keep putting out this line:
āWe have been confident from the beginning that Hillary Clintonās use of a personal email was allowed and that she did not send or receive anything marked classifiedā¦ā
Documents marked classified would have been on a closed loop classified system. So the question to Hillary staffers could be āDid you transcribe any information from classified documents and forward it to Secretary Clintonās private email?ā
Her aides Sullivan and Mills are both testifying this week as well.
In any case this has been very corrosive to Hillaryās standings. Iām angry that her āconvenienceā has placed my party in jeopardy this coming election.
Oh, I agree. But I think he should show up before the Committee, and invoke the Fifth, as needed.
He will have to show if they require it. His lawyer will say we are invoking the 5th, so there is no need to call him. The Committee may want him on the record actually invoking it because of appearances. But itās not typically invoked as needed, it will be universal, because deciding when the 5th applies if you selectively use it is very tricky. A judge could rule that you waived your right to invoke it all together because you answered a question you may have thought was irrelevant.
Yet another blow to Hillary Clinton Presidential campaign.
According to polls she has already been classified, no pun intended, as a liar by over 50% of the people. The guy who set up her server now pleading the 5th is adding another nail to her Presidential hopes coffin.
Well, they are probably trying to establish if anything regarding Benghazi was sent to her private email server for instance.
The link they are claiming here is emails pertaining to Benghazi, so there is a distant link. But the FBI is investigating all server issues, so if anything they should be calling someone from the FBI to testify, though since it is still under investigation, they would not. These Benghazi nuts need to wait until the server investigation is over before they call this guy.
Agreed, but the FBI is investigating all that. They should wait for that to be completed.
I believe the FBI is investigating if anything classified was sent via Hillary Clinton private email server but nothing else.
True, Iām thinking they also might be checking deleted emails and such, but you may be correct. So perhaps they should be asking the FBI to look for deleted emails, or request any related to Benghazi. If they find none, no need to call this guy.
And I am not ready to put the nail in her coffin yet. No criminal wrongdoing and she escapes. Yes, this has hurt her big time, but she was a landslide favorite early on. Now she is not a landslide favorite, but she is still ahead. And if no criminal wrongdoing is found, she can escape this.
But no one can deny that her stupidity and arrogance has cost her big time in the polls, thatās just a fact.
