I hold him to the same standards I hold any republican. He needs to resign. Today. Now.
I was proud to vote Franken into office in 2008. I think he’s been a damn good Senator for Minnesota and for the United States of America. I’ll keep digesting this news, but I don’t think this is tenable. Dude’s gotta go.
What is it with comics, anyway?
Disappointing and disheartening.
Still, I predict Dems will show a moral consistency toward this that will shame GOP hypocrisy even further.
Yep, Franken will step down but Clarence Thomas, Roy Moore, and Trump of course will not. Just sayin’
The fact that Franken thought posing for that photo would be “funny” is pretty sick. His apology borders on “I’m sorry if I offended anybody” and could be stronger.
Well, this destroys any potential he had as a presidential candidate for 2020.
Because he’s a Democrat. Republicans have no problem with it apparently.
he could always switch parties and run as a Republican. I’ve heard they will even tolerate grabbing women by their genitals.
Franken may be guilty, but that photo looks like a tasteless attempt at comedy. I’d like to hear from the sleeping guy.
What is it with men anyway?
Repellent. If there’s a pattern of this, and there probably is, then he’d have to go. Huge disappointment and loss for the good guys. Damn, it’s like hearing a friend did something terrible.
It’s exactly the sort of photograph I had in mind three or five years ago when everybody was saying “the Facebook generation will never produce a candidate who can win an election, ever”.
No pattern necessary. He needs to go. Now.
Let’s hear what Al has to say about it.
The photo may show a gag, but if he was not touching her–even if his hands were a millimeter away from her–then it may show poor taste but nothing more. Especially as she did not know it was going on.
Ugh. Fuck.
I might be wrong but I think it’s a sleeping woman soldier. I hope I am wrong, but either way, as much as I love the guy, he needs to resign.
“I couldn’t believe it. He groped me, without my consent, while I was asleep,” Tweeden wrote.
The picture doesn’t show groping
Jesus Christ. On what planet was Al on that he thought this wasn’t something that would come back to bite him on the ass? The insistence on kissing was bad enough, and the groping—simulated or actual—was even worse, but to compound the idiocy by doing it while he was being photographed?
I don’t think it’s something that by itself warrants giving up his Senate seat, but in the current climate he can kiss any larger ambitions than the Senate goodbye. He’s also weakened his own voice when it comes to criticizing Trump and Republicans on policy.
What the hell is wrong with men that so many of them let their privates do their thinking for them? Franken’s an intelligent guy—not some Alabama half-wit—which to me makes it even more incomprehensible.
Rush to condemn Republicans on one hand and on the other do back flips through hoops to defend Democrats for the same actions.
