The mendacity and squalid nature of their defense is as revolting as the behavior that led them to need a defense in the first place. These people show us a prime example of southern culture on the skids. Painting your spouse as crazy as a way to avoid jail is pretty low, in the character department. Just goes to show you what fervent Christian values can do for character development.
