And I honestly hope every member of the GOP in both Houses of Congress is listening carefully. He may be signing their pink slips for November.
Although I have to say, I’m not sure a government shutdown would really upset a whole lot of people - just the ones collecting their Social Security and Medicare. Yeah, his base.

If he has some kind of collapse, they are so going to have to vet the medical staff to make sure no one reports what he says in his delirium.

Just as a thought experiment, image if Trump actually was a Russian agent tasked with the mission of sabotaging the Federal government and undermining US military preparedness Short of a declaration of war, is there anything more effective he could do to implement that goal than literally shutting down the government?
Why the hell, given an opportunity such as was presented to Saagar Enjeti, won’t a journalist ask Trump “Why do American taxpayers need to pay for a wall that you promised MULTIPLE TIMES on the campaign trail, definitively and unequivocally, Mexico would pay for? You made that committment and promise to your voters, why won’t you keep it?”

I honestly don’t think the average news note taker we have working today could possibly put the question as eloquently as you have. They just don’t have it in them anymore. They have had this story available to them now for over a year. Not one. NOT ONE. Has even given any thought to this kind of question.
